how can i stop this from downloading.
i have a dd-wrt router and have tried all those nus addresses and even tried that cron script posted and it is still downloading.
why won't it stop?
if i cannot stop it is it safe to let that download happen and what will happen when it is done? will it force me to install the update or can i ignore it and use wii u normally, minus services that now require update.
i am real sorry to ask, but i am frustrated and have read much, i simply don't understand.
thanks and be kind if you flame me, i am sensitive..........

i am on 4.1.0 and it is downloading a update, not sure of its number.

Whats the point in blocking it? Just update they say v5 will work with exploit with a tweak or so

its not safe to update. the existence of a bug doesn't guarantee in will work. rop chains are a very delicate thing.

try blocking the system's mac address. it works for me, but you'll need to run a local server. don't let the update download.

if i block the wii u mac address won't that successfully kill all internet?
thank you for reply.

oh, saw the part just now about local server, thank you Snailface. (mamp for osx will suffice for those files posted?)

:wacko:i guess i should have actually turned the filter on.......no wonder it still downloading.
i got this fixed now, thanks to an extra stick of motivation to see what was right in front of me.
wow.

i use: nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
setup access policy, filtered not blocked, added wii u mac address, and TURNED it on.
it killed the download completely and i still have most internet services. (i only lost eshop)

sorry to have troubled you all with my thickness today.

i should also add a hello to you all and thank you for welcoming me to your forum.

The exploit exists on 5.0 as pointed out in quite a few threads relating to the matter, including the sticky thread. It won't work straight away since the execution is different due to a new version of the browser in 5.0. The exploit is of no use for 99.9% of users since not much can be done with it at the moment for the average user.
