Hardware 3D Printing Coverplates for New 3DS

Hi friends!

My best friend gave me this amazing gift. A custom-made 3D-printed 3DS Coverplate!

This is what it looks like:

I LOVE Zelda, so that's why she made it The Legend of Michelle (my name).
The only problem is that it doesn't fit perfectly. As you can see it doesn't completely close around the edges and therefore falls off very easily.

Does anybody have some tips/tricks?
Or
Has anybody else tried to print a coverplate?

Yup it was my browser, sorry.

Can you not file or sand it down any more than that, for some reason?
I've not seen a cover plate in person before, but just looking at it it looks to be flat on that end.

getting the fit correct will be a nightmare!

i think the easiest way to go about it is to print out just the extended bits, then glue it to an existing cover plate. or go a step further and redesign it so that it's one piece and easier to glue.
