Hardware Need help with switch possible power problems

I have a 1st gen switch that I'm having problems with that I hope someone can give me some advice. The previous owner had done some work on the switch, but I don't know everything that they did. There is evidence that the pi3USB and BQ had been replaced. The switch can enter RCM mode, boot...

Hardware Nintendo Switch Voltage Diagram !

I think it depends on what charger is connected. For a genuine nintendo charger it will be 15V, for a regular USB charger some of those will only be 5V

    Hardware Dead eMMC

I've seen a failed eMMC module where one of the via corroded causing the 1.8v memory controller voltage to not reach the memory chip. Did you try checking the voltages on the chip to make sure it's getting power. There should be continuity between the yellow points and it should be 1.8v when...

Hardware Nintendo switch Board draws 0.46 A and doesnt boot

If your going to throw it away, send it to me. I'll pay for shipping. :D Seriously though, as far as the capacitor on the SOC, the one you showed should be very low resistance, (like 0.1ohm), it's not a problem. Were you able to check the voltage rails in the 2nd picture. Put the VOM meter...

Hardware Nintendo switch Board draws 0.46 A and doesnt boot

Check the filter on the D+ and D- lines, and the 3.3v rail. You should be able to get RCM as long as you have power to the SOC and the data lines connected. Check for continuity between the blue and yellow points.

Hardware Nintendo switch Board draws 0.46 A and doesnt boot

You call tell if it's patched or unpatched by looking at the response. If it says "Smashed the stack with a 0x7000 byte SETUP request!" it's unpatched. If it says "Smashed the stack with a 0x0000 byte SETUP request!" it's patched.

Hardware Volume down button not responsive

I don't see how it could be related to a capacitor on the SOC. It seems like the easiest would be to replace the ribbon cable before looking elsewhere for problems.

Hardware Nintendo switch Board draws 0.46 A and doesnt boot

Are you sure it's a hardware issues? It could be a firmware issue. If the firmware isn't loading properly, it won't switch to fast charging and could have a blank display. If it's unpatched, you can rebuild the firmware. Can you put it into RCM mode?

    Hardware Switch stopped booting

I'm not sure what it's for, but I think that is in the battery fuel gauge circuit. It might cause the booting problem you are having. I measured it on one of my donor boards, and it seems to be 100Kohm.

Hardware Nintendo switch - no power - goes to 15V 0.49A direclty

Try putting it into RCM mode and plugging it into a PC. If it is recognized OK, it's probably fixable. If it shows up as "invalid device descriptor", then there is probably something wrong with the SOC. The USB data lines are wired directly to the SOC (through a filter/fuse), and you should...

Hardware Nintendo switch - no power - goes to 15V 0.49A direclty

Is it patched or unpatched? Can you force RCM mode by removing the eMMC? Does it get recognized as an APX device when you plug it into a PC? Is it possible it's on, just without any display? Unless there is a shorted SOC, I don't see why it wouldn't be repairable.

Hardware Switch Repair Advice being sought

Yes, if they are both unpatched, it would be a pretty easy fix. If one is patched, and you don't have the keys, you could end up with a brick.

Hardware Switch Repair Advice being sought

According to switchbrew, the boot0 and boot1 areas as well as the 6 BCM packages are not encrypted with console specific keys. I believe the code that checks the fuses is in the boot0 partition.

Hardware Switch Repair Advice being sought

Be careful. If you try to boot with the wrong eMMC and it's on a newer firmware, it will happily burn your fuses and make it so neither will boot. If they were both on the same firmware, you should be able to try them one at a time, and the correct one will boot. If you're unsure, I would...

Hardware Switch Repair Advice being sought

According to the datasheet, the MT pin 18 is the 3.3v rail. I'm not sure how that would affect battery charging though.

Hardware Tiny Capacitor Short, Need Help Identifying (seems to have been omitted in some versions)

I just checked three of my donor board and all three have that component shorted (about 1ohm resistance).

Hardware Need help locating part number

Does anyone know the part number for this part. It's the small filter on the USB data lines. It's smaller than the ones on the back near the pi3USB. I checked the component identification thread and couldn't find any information on it.

Hacking Discussion Missing eMMC recovery without a backup

Well, this is over my head. I checked out the fuse_get_device_id() function is fuse.c and fuse.h I found on the Atmosphere github. I can see where it's doing it's thing, but I can't quite understand what it's doing, or how I can make it work for me. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Hacking ChoiDujour Revive - Stuck at Launch

I think it might be a problem with etcher zeros out the keys at the end of the file. I don't think you need to start over, as long as you did everything else right, you should be able to just fix the BOOT0 file (boot1 should be OK) and restore it with hekate tools, check that lockpick_rcm sees...
