    Hacking OFW 4.86?

Anyone else notice there is OFW 4.86 now? Have the patches been updated yet?

Hacking PS3 problem, please help me

Uuugh, reAct. Always have had issues with reAct and the weird extra users you have to add for it to work correct. PSN patch has always been so much easier for me, with fewer steps.

    Hacking eBay and CFW PS3s

Depends on how much you get a console for, and how much the buyer is willing to pay for it. I’ve picked up consoles for as little as $10 which were listed as broken which I was able to repair. I’ve also picked them up for $140+ for a CECHA01 in the original box. They can do it themselves with a...

    Hacking eBay and CFW PS3s

Except Sony does NOT own the rights to the games. Which means Sony does not have any leg to stand on. It’s not “legitimate” piracy. Or piracy of any sort if you actually own a physical copy of the disc of a game. Selling downloaded games from PSN is perfectly accepted. Why is it not okay for a...

    Hacking eBay and CFW PS3s

Guess you missed the part where I include the game discs? A PS3 game disc is only worth about $1.15 on the wholesale market. Hell, just having the game discs exonerates the soft modder from any “legal” issue. Which is a civil matter, not a criminal (best Trump impression ever) uuuuuuuuuge...

    Hacking eBay and CFW PS3s

3.55 doesn’t matter anymore. Downgrading is a waste of time. First thing I usually do is install HFW4.85 and go from there. That said, I did just get a CECHA01 on OFW 3.50. Last time it was used for a game was 2010. I probably won’t hack this console just cause it’s hardly been used. Why...

    Hacking eBay and CFW PS3s

Sony doesn’t own the copyright to the games. The game makers do. Not all of them are still in business, so no worries about them. Those which are still in business required to send a cease and desist from a court before there is ever some type of lawsuit. To make it more complicated, if you...

    Hacking PS3 help

Unfortunately Hen is really the best option you have if your console is a superslim or a non-exploitable slim. You can also try getting an exploitable console from Facebook marketplace. They’re about $50 - $75. Or just get a fat at a pawnshop.

You don’t need both. Just install Hen.

    Hacking PS3 help

The hex file is available on the same site. You need it to be on a usb drive in the dev port (closest to the right) of the PlayStation you’re hacking. Be sure you have a nor compatible system, the onscreen prompts will tell you if you do except for 25k’s. Just initialize, then run. After it’s...

Hacking Thinking about buying new hard drive to replace current CFW drive

There is a backup utility built in to the XMB under system settings. Sony included this to make it easy to upgrade the HDD and keep your info. You just need an external drive formatted to fat32 large enough to hold the info. It will transfer all your legit PSN games and game saves to the...

Hacking Thinking about buying new hard drive to replace current CFW drive

God no. Don’t bother cloning. They were designed to be easy to upgrade the HDD. One screw locks the drive bay in place, 4 hold the drive to the drive bay. PS3s are SATA2 so they don’t get the full speed boost of a SSD but they do get some. Enough to be noticeable. I do this all the time...

I’ve always used PSN patch, don’t know how well it will work with PS2 though.

Hacking Thinking about buying new hard drive to replace current CFW drive

It depends on the type of console. A NOR console the firmware is stored on the motherboard. You just pull and replace the HDD or SSD and you’re done. With a NAND console you replace the drive, then you will just have to put in a usb with your CFW. No need to do the rest of the flash writing etc...

    Hardware PS3 Launch 60GB Modding

First thing I noticed is SSDs. The PS3 is SATA2 not SATA3, so you won’t get the full speed boost from the SSD. It is definitely faster, but not insanely fast. Secondly, the NAND flash for the SSD should be MLC not TLC. MLC is going to cost more than the TLC drives but they last twice as long (8k...

Hardware Best place to buy a Fat PS3?

You can get them for $50 if you stick to your price on Facebook. Pawnshops sell them for $75. Webman is okay but gets buggy with Ferrox, control fan utility is better imo.

Hardware Best place to buy a Fat PS3?

You can turn the fan mod down. If it YLOD it probably wasn’t a cooling mod and needed to be cleaned & thermal paste replaced.

Hacking How insert ps2 games bigger than 4gb on my cfw ps3?

IDK why more people don’t do this. It’s crazy easy to transfer and usually faster to ftp the files vs an external HDD. For those out of the know, use Rebug tools, get the IP address. Leave Rebug open. Put the up address in FileZilla and transfer away. It helps if both the computer and PS3 are...

Hardware Best place to buy a Fat PS3?

If you’re looking for a CECHA01 or CECHB01 model, eBay is good, but they’re not cheap. You can also try pawnshops. I’ve found they’re great since they don’t know what they have, or care. To them an A is the same as every other fat model. The ones around here will ask $75 and include games, but...

Hacking Got the dreaded PSN ban email, what now?

You shouldn’t be using your main PSN account on a hacked console. Just use a throwaway. If it gets banned, no biggie.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
