Homebrew app I made an anti-frontend - VCEverywhere

I always liked the way emulation is handled on consoles (Nintendo's Virtual Console or Microsoft's OG Xbox and 360 emulators) best: emulated games are apps just like the native ones and are managed and started without additional launchers or front ends. I wanted to have the same kind of...

Hacking Possible to change region with CFW?

Sigh, that is sad to hear. Thanks for the reply anyways

Hacking Possible to change region with CFW?

Is it possible to flash a different region's firmware on a Wii U after hacking like it is on the 3DS via CTR transfer? Or maybe having a different region RedNAND? I have a Japanese model and would like to have the system UI in English, as well as not messing around too much to get my US games...

A standard container format for game dumps - possible?

They do indeed, which is why I think the idea has merit: when emulating encryption is just overhead and having a standard archive with all assets unencrypted would make game modding a lot easier. Also, physical media ends up being ISO files for a lot of systems (PS2/PS3/GC/Wii/WiiU). Having...

A standard container format for game dumps - possible?

I have been dumping a lot of my collection recently and even just keeping up with the assortment of tools/formats for each system is challenging - which made me start wondering if it would be possible to make an equivalent of the MKV container format for games: a single, standard container...

Homebrew Is it possible to have DS games boot straight from home menu?

I meant combining them as in putting them together as separate files in the CIA: once installed you'd have the .nds file and a 3ds executable (writes config file then reboots 3DS in DS mode) in the app's installation folder as separate files. Beyond that, respect: you are a fountain of...

Homebrew Is it possible to have DS games boot straight from home menu?

Thank you so much for writing that! My Google skills seem to fail me when it comes to finding these kind of technical details (if I'm lucky I end up on some other GBAtemp thread where people go more in depth than usual - otherwise noise). Three questions more if I may: - Why would twlnand size...

Homebrew Is it possible to have DS games boot straight from home menu?

Forwarders are closer to what I had in mind and a definite step up in usability, but I am curious: *why* do some games only work via flashcards, technically? And also, would it technically be possible to create a forwarder that includes the nds rom? Like what happens with Virtual Console...

Homebrew Is it possible to have DS games boot straight from home menu?

I have my 3DS setup with TwilightMenu to load DS dumps from my MicroSD, and after seeing how Ultimate injector allows generating CIAs that behave 100% like native 3DS apps (install via FBI, launch via tile on home screen, uninstall via settings/data management), I am wondering if it would be...

Hacking Region changed new 2DS unable to start eshop

Just got a New 2DS XL on which I installed custom firmware following the guide to the letter via the ntrboot method and which I then changed from Japan to Europe region. While I never opened the eshop before the region change, I did connect to the internet to perform the system update, as per...

Hacking New RetriX build - fixes installation errors

Over the last few weeks, people trying to install RetriX have been unable to do so due to "a certificate has been revoked by its issuer" errors. This is because Microsoft revoked StartCom's CA certificate, and RetriX's code signing certificate was bought from them. I have released a new RetriX...

Hacking Play The Retrix Emulator For Free on Retail Mode!!!!

@dominater01 and everyone else Please do not buy Xbrowse or support its developer in any way. From what I could see in Youtube videos of old versions and from the files in the AppX @dominater01 has posted in this very thread Xbrowse is using code from RetriX. I have made RetriX's source...

    Hacking N64 on RetriX

@dominater01 Several reasons: 1. When attempting to start any game a second time, including the one just closed, the core crashes. 2. I cannot get the core to compile for ARM

    Hacking N64 on RetriX

Finally got ParallelN64 to somewhat work on RetriX It's unstable. And needs a fast CPU. And software rendering only. But seeing a new system after months is nice. Also, if anyone is interested in helping develop RetriX, I'm looking for contributors. Edit: This is not in a released version, no...

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

Why are you asking for this? The actual hashing logic is part of the .net standard library and the app itself is free already.

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

One more bugfix release, this time I added support for screen rotation. Some cores, like Finalburn Alpha, render games at an angle (90 degrees clockwise or upside down, I really have no clue why), with the front end responsible for rotating the image back to normal. RetriX 1.9.4 gains this...

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

With regards to a retail version: what Retroarch does (downloading libraries -cores - and running them) is specifically forbidden and I think also technically blocked in UWP. This is for security reasons: the app submitted for certification may be harmless but some core it downloads and runs...

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

@dominater01 This is your lucky day :) Just released RetriX 1.9.2, which adds support for variable frame rates: cores run at the frequency they specify instead of being locked to 60Hz. This fixes the Wonderswan core (runs at 75Hz) and should ensure PAL game systems run properly too.

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

@ploggy RetriX is no closer to Retroarch than it was before (read, they have zero in common - RetriX is almost entirely C# while Retroarch is C). There is no such thing as GUI drivers for RetriX. @dominater01 The issues you are encountering are with the cores themselves, not RetriX (except...

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

Happy new year everyone - I have a late Xmas present :P New RetriX release: while it has been a long while since the last one, a lot has happened. I worked with the people from Libretro to create an official VFS API. This means that finally the code used for RetriX cores can be the exact same...
