Hacking The Definitive vWii Hacking Guide!

So I tried just letting USB Loader GX go down to the 20 second warning for the HDD. When I waited to connect the HDD, it worked! I'm currently backing up my copy of Smash Bros and all seems to be going well :D it sucks a little that I have to get up every time I start USB Loader GX, but I can...

Hacking The Definitive vWii Hacking Guide!

The app is in the SD card's app folder. It is a 2 port based HDD, I have had the main part of the cable plugged into port 0 and the other part plugged into port 1. When I tried switching the ports around (main plugged into port 1 and extra plugged into port 0) USB Loader GX doesn't acknowledge...

Hacking The Definitive vWii Hacking Guide!

I followed the guide all the way through up until using USB Loader GX, that's where I encountered problems. My system is stuck on the "Loading... Initialize usb device" screen. The only way for me to get rid of this is to unplug the system. I have nothing on the HDD and I completely formatted it...

Hacking Need Help running vWii homebrew on HDD

I've decided to try running through the entire guide again from scratch (excluding backing up and dumping). I'm also going to completely format my HDD and put the entire thing into FAT32 file system. Also, I'm rewriting cIOS 249-251 with d2x-v10-beta52-vWii rather than d2x-v10-beta53-alt-vWii. I...

Hacking Need Help running vWii homebrew on HDD

So I tried a 32GB USB flash drive just to see how it would perform. I removed the SD card and I opened the Homebrew Channel with just the flash drive plugged in (top USB port when Wii U is laying down). All of my apps were there and all work fine (basically just emulators). When I load USB...

Hacking Need Help running vWii homebrew on HDD

It uses a Y-Cable. I have the main part plugged into the top USB slot and the other "booster" part plugged into the bottom slot (when the Wii U is on its side)

Hacking Need Help running vWii homebrew on HDD

I would use a thumb drive, but it wouldn't be able to hold the amount of backups I have. I may try that just as a test though, to see if my HDD is the issue

Hacking Need Help running vWii homebrew on HDD

Hi, I'm running into issues with using my HDD on my vWii. I followed the Definitive vWii Hacking Guide by CJB100 here- https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-definitive-vwii-hacking-guide.425852/#5 Ideally, I would like to run Homebrew Apps and all of my .iso's from the HDD. But at the very least I...

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    I dread the price point.

  • Veho @ Veho:
This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
