    You could try eBay, camping the new listings for cheap ones or mass watching and sniping eBay auctions with 0-1 bids. Obtaining one for sub-$100 should be easy, and I've recently seen one with a grip and 64GB card go for $150 with 1 bid. Make sure to ask the seller about the firmware version...

    I only bought a 3DS in the first place after hearing about A9LH and Luma, so I would say no. It also doesn't help at all that simply entering the eShop can delete a bunch of your data.
