Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and info! I'll probably buy a tube of arctic mx-4 as I read it plays nicely with the electronics so it's a huge plus and not that expensive!
I'll wait out on the e3 flasher as I'll change the thermal paste and then play through Persona 5 while I save enough...
Hey guys!
After a long stay at the 3DS community, I have decided to come back to the PS3 (Mainly because of Persona 5 :P)!
I purchased a (heavily) used fat PS3 (the second line, CECHK01), and I have some questions:
Which is the best thermal paste to get? I've heard conflicting reports about...
Thanks, the system's pretty much working for now and that's what really matters.
I'll be leaving it in the rice zip baggy until I can get back home to clean it up.
Happy to say my console is fully working :)
I'll still be leaving it in the rice+silica baggy for the next couple of days so any possible moisture is extracted. The ZR trigger (for some reason, ZL's working as intended) and the C stick are still a bit finicky and ZR tends to get stuck; any...
Forgot to ask; could the system still be salvageable by next Friday? I'm at college right now and hours away from home, and my spring break starts next Friday. I really hope the contacts and especially the MB don't get too rusty :/
Thanks for the suggestion but I guess I won't risk it by...
Thanks, I'll look up a guide if need be.
I'm going out on a limb right now but I'd say the MB is potentially safe, since the inside was well protected and the battery/SD card were intact (also the fact that the system was only a second in water); I could just try and replace the screens in a...
Thanks, I was intending to do so but I sadly lack the required screwdrivers :/
I have no shortage of experience with exploring and cleaning the innards of my systems so I'd just pop it open and have a look had I had the tools handy.
Pink matches the red coloring of the system better xD
TL;DR: System fell in a pool of dishwasher water, managed to save(?) it w/ rice and silica gel. Don't be dumb like me and keep your consoles away from water whenever possible.
To top off my list of crappy things yet to happen to me this week, I left my n3DS XL while I cleaned my dishes and...
Actually, I think they don't need an internet connection so I believe the eshop problem won't interfere
I believe they must have hit a rock, or possibly a diamond in the rough, given his last tweets.
I'll agree that the title is a bit misleading, but he didn't claim to have a "kernel exploit", he was just trying to get informed and inform us in the same manner about this.
Yeah, not to mention that the backups thing is a real conflict for anyone, since it will end up being used for piracy (call it what you will; someone will use it to pirate)
Anyways, let's hope someone helps out with this since I would fancy myself some better emulators on my 9.9 n3DS
There's no visible need for devs to find another kexploit aside from dynarec and other small goodies. Smea isn't too proud of what ninjhax 1 became, and now ninjhax 2/other hax have everything any AP dev could need and with the new update they have even more stuff coming their way.
You might have to hold your horses for a while. There are no publicly documented (if not existent) exploits that could be run to get anything working on newer firmwares. Even if there were, you'd still need someone that would willingly convert it into a convenient package that end users like us...
It's not the movies or games downloads that I would worry about, like breaking into networks, downloading encrypted things, spying on network traffic. I have seen so many "Top Secret" seals on files when I was a kid
I was obsessed with finding UFOs, a surprising amount of US files where stashed on computers in other countries, China back in the early 90s omg sooo much
