Hacking Buying a used Gateway 3DS card

I appreciate all of the replies. This gives me info to run with. I'll ask him if he can bring a 4.5 3DS to run through some of this stuff with me present. If he can't/won't, I'll probably wait and buy retail. Doesn't seem like it's worth the risk for problems.

Hacking Buying a used Gateway 3DS card

Someone is willing to sell me the red and blue Gateway cards used for $50. Seems like a good deal. I'm on the latest firmware so I won't be able to test at purchase. Anything I should look for to verify the cards are legit?

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I try it every night cycling through the local MAC addresses for a few hours. I went to one of the locations this week to verify that there were actually hits there and got some. I suppose I could test it with a buddy.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I'm using a Raspberry Pi with an Asus USB-N53 WiFi adapter. All of the HomePass MAC addresses work and I pick up StreetPass tags from them, so I assume my setup is working. Just trying to clarify if my expectation is correct: If I use the same SSID and BSSID (MAC address) as a local Nintendo...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Right, and the SSID I'm using is attwifi, which is the one the McDonald's is using. They also have McDonalds Free WiFi behind a TOS acceptance screen, but my 3DS is picking up StreetPasses at the location without connecting to that. This leads me to assume that it is the attwifi SSID that's the...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I've verified from my MacBook and my iPhone that the SSID is attwifi and BSSID is the MAC address of the local McDonalds. Still no StreetPasses from my 3DS.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Oh, no, people are going to the McDonald's with their 3DS. I drove by it after attempting with my relay for a few days and immediately picked up StreetPass tags. This location has their own McDonalds Free WiFi SSID that is behind a TOS accept page. But they also the attwifi SSID, which I assume...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

So someone hitting a StreetPass relay in a physical McDonald's location is not added to the same pool of my HomePass relay using the same MAC address and SSID? Was hoping for a way to hit those locations without leaving my home. /lazy

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Hey. I'm using hostapd on my Raspberry Pi and I'm able to pick up StreetPasses from the various MAC addresses on the sheet. I've gone by a few local McDonald's locations and recorded the MAC address of their gateway and they all use the attwifi SSID. Should I be able to use those MAC addresses...
