    On my EU 3DS, I happen to have both US and EU versions of Bravely Default and Fire Emblem Awakening, all of them patched with the same header. In my 9.4 EmuNAND, only the EU versions can access online, while the US versions are stuck in offline mode, with only streetpass functioning.

    You will need to patch the header for online play in the first place. I was saying that if the game is from a different region than your 3DS's region, then online play cannot be accessed, even with the header patched.

    A clone of this card that has no restriction whatsoever, i.e. no limit on number of ROMs, and support custom ROMs, will definitely be able to defeat Gateway easily. As it is, it stands no chance against Gateway.

    MT-Card is not a "scam". They are just another group of clones that have exhausted their ability in cloning Gateway features. The only difference between them and R4 is that R4 failed a lot earlier. Regardless of your perspective on brick codes and whatnot, Gateway is pretty much the only choice.

    You need the game's region to match your 3DS's region in order to use eShop. Remember how when you first launch eShop, you had to accept some internet agreement? You only accepted the agreement for your region, but there is no way to accept the agreement for other regions.

    There has been no report of anyone being banned as a result of using Gateway. The only bans thus far have been cheaters & exploiters, and it's the legit users doing that.
