Hacking Questions about CFW and savegames.

So I got most of my questions answered using googling and reading a few GBATemp forums. I'm still not 100% sure though on a few of them. Can I still use the Gateway with RxTools and RxMode or does it only support the Sky3DS like the post here says...

Hacking Is there a way to dump ticket.db on N3DS?

I believe this is the Github page for Decrypt9. https://github.com/archshift/Decrypt9

Hacking Questions about CFW and savegames.

Hi, We currently have two original 3DS's (O3DSs) and two Gateway 3DSs running the latest Gateway firmware (Ultra 3.4.1). We have a few cartridges that we ripped and the save games aren't 512KB in size, they're smaller. My understanding is either the Gateway only supports saves that are 512KB...

Hacking Gateway 3.4.1: using backup savegames

I want to do something similar as to what the OP asked. I have questions though about the custom firmware. Should I ask here or start my own thread? I don't want to be hijacking a thread but I want to do exactly what the OP is doing, use savegames that I currently cannot use with the...

ROM Hack Help exporting retail saves and then importing into Gateway ROMs

Sorry, somehow I missed the sticky saying not to ask questions about save games here. I'll ask the question in the firmware section and reword it a bit better. Perhaps a mod can delete the thread I created her?

ROM Hack [Request] Gateway .SAV Extractor

Does he need to do that just to get a dump? Or is that just if he wants to do some hacking? I saw another post, if you're on 4.5, it says you can use Kane49's dumper. Thanks.

ROM Hack [Request] Gateway .SAV Extractor

Maybe the OP means whatever's loaded into RAM on the 3DS? I believe it's FCRAM (just googled it and it was the first result, so I could be wrong on this). Anyway, for the OP, here appears to be an article on GBATemp. https://gbatemp.net/threads/merry-christmas-have-some-ram-dumping.359697/...

ROM Hack How do save editors work?

Thank you. So the save data that's stored in the NAND or on the SD card is encrypted? When using the Gateway to extract the save data from a retail cartridge, it's decrypted generally? Unless there's that other layer of encryption like in MH4U saves?

ROM Hack How do save editors work?

Aren't the save games encrypted? Don't they need to be decrypted first?

ROM Hack Help exporting retail saves and then importing into Gateway ROMs

Hello, Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this or if this has been asked before. We have a Gateway 3DS and we've dumped some of our games and copied them to the MicroSD card. We'd like to get the save games transferred and we're having some difficulties. This is what we've tried...

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

I've heard a few things about Arch. I was going to install it once but went with OpenSuSE instead. Some of the Linux distro's I've used (either live disc or installed): Slackware (This is where I got my start back in the summer after 7th grade, going into 8th grade) Debian Redhat Gentoo...

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

Yeah, it's probably one of those things, you know, we're each just accustom to different things. I grew up with Linux, you grew up with Windows. The one thing I love about Linux is how just about everything is free. I don't play video games a lot and when I do, they're usually on an...

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

I got it working successfully. I just needed to know the size. Thanks for all the help though guys. For Windows users, you shouldn't have to resize your FAT32 partition if you can just find the Windows equivalent to dd and backup the first sector of the new SD card and then after writing...

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

I'm trying to backup the EmuNAND so when I install the 32GB SD card (the current one is 8), the EmuNAND is still linked to the 3DS. The steps to backup the EmuNAND are different depending on what NAND chip you have, according to this article, because they're different sizes. Here's the...

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

I used the Gateway to dump the NAND and NAND.bin is 943MB, that means it's a Toshiba NAND, correct?

Hardware How do I tell what NAND chip I have?

Hello, We have an older original 3DS. Is there a way to tell what NAND chip is inside it without opening it up? We're in the process of upgrading the SD card and there's different directions for Toshiba based NAND and Samsung based NAND for backing up the EmuNAND on the SD card. I don't...

    Hardware Different firmware dumps.

I believe I understand now. So, with the Gateway dumps, you'd just need to reinstall the exploit. I had googled MSET and ran across the MSET exploit. I learned it was just what you said. I've seen some stuff with the GW downloads or something on their sites that talks about MSETs. I...

    Hardware Different firmware dumps.

What's MSET? Is that just the Profiles? Man, this is very important information you're sharing Hundshamer. To me, it seems like the Gateway dumps aren't very usable, unless I'm missing something here?

Homebrew 3ds extdata dump and restore tool (extra data editing!)

I read a post somewhere where someone mentioned something about the 3DS decrypting it so this tool doesn't have to. Maybe the post was wrong or I misunderstood it. I believe the NAND is encrypted, but I thought once the 3DS started up, it got decrypted and this program was extracting the...

but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
