    I haven't experimented with moving the rootfs but I imagine it's possible since the existing rootfs is just an initrd. The filesystem it mounts would obviously have to be able to expose the proper filesystem attributes and whatnot so you couldn't just have the rootfs on the FAT32 on the disk...

    Oh I ran in to that problem too with buildroot. You just need to make menuconfig and change the thigns it complains about and then it'll work. I believe it'll also complain about GCC version.

    Not sure how to determine that. Updated the virtual keyboard driver working back from what was there. Now it's two separate files and the buttons work again.

    And you're on a new 3DS(XL), right? Not an old (2,3)DS(XL)? Otherwise I don't know what could be going wrong. Also if you don't want to download as much of the repo, just do git clone --depth=1 <url> That'll only download the latest revision and not the entire history of linux since ever. :p

    I've determined that crashes are consistently just after installing ErrDisp and after AM_InstallNativeFirm(). Anyone have any insight on this? Neither seem to result in a brick, just result in frankenfirmware that seems to be recoverable by resuming the update, but I don't feel confident that...

    First successful upgrade from 9.2 to 10.4, but for how rough it went, I wouldn't exactly call it usable. It crashed once but it had gotten far enough that I was able to continue by rebooting and resuming the update. I'll put up another release if I can get another couple upgrades working, then...

    Oh yeah, I got the CIA version to run, but it's not very reliable. Not sure what went wrong, but it broke my emunand. I was able to restore it but hmm... Also, no idea how to get the banner audio working. Might just be the cmake script I'm using or my version of bannertool might be broken...

    In the end, it's all just poorly documented superstitions at best. Hard to say what depends on what version of what given the information available. If someone can give me proven information on exactly what is picky about various versions of packages, I'd be happy to know, but otherwise...

    It installs firmware files first, though it doesn't differentiate CTR, TWL or AGB FIRM but it's third installed at worst. Then it'll try to install modules, then enough other stuff to be able to get home menu and internet browser. Info on that is in sysInfo.c. The information on 3dbrew.org...
