    Best controller ever

Oh my! Atari 2600 joystick?! That goes way back, but it's actually the first controller I ever used to play a video game. Only one button, but that's all that was needed for those games back then, The stick was kind of stiff, and it would quickly break under intense use, maybe after a couple...

    Staying on FW17?

I believe there are new keys for firmware 18. I saw a lockpick version for it. I didn't try it, because I haven't updated yet. You're perfectly fine staying on FW17 for the moment. But if, or rather when, a game gets developed for firmware 18, and you want to play it, you won't have a choice...

Error Code: 2002-4153 (0x207202) when launching Atmosphere

It might be related to old sysmodules. Take a look at this thread. Did you hack your Switch by yourself manually, or you used a pre-made SD card bundle? Or did you update recently with an AIO app? These create more problems than they solve, usually.

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

MTP should work out of the box on Linux. At least, it did for me. I'm using Ubuntu 22.04. And DBI backend also works flawlessly on my system. It does need python3, though. I usually just enter "sudo python3 dbibackend" to launch it, and it automatically waits for a USB connection to the...

Misc So I have a bunch of empty DVD-R discs. What should I do with them?

I was thinking it would be a good use, but in my past experiences, OS installers work much better with a USB stick. Oh well, old technology is old. At least I got them for cheap.

Misc So I have a bunch of empty DVD-R discs. What should I do with them?

Thanks for the suggestions. But I don't have a 360, and for the PS2, I was using an internal hard disk (HD Loader and independence exploit, if I remember correctly). That was years ago. 1713621027 They looked pretty dry, and the spindle was well shrink-wrapped, so probably not an issue, as...

Misc So I have a bunch of empty DVD-R discs. What should I do with them?

Last week, while walking on the sidewalk in the early morning, I saw an abandoned spindle of 50 Verbatim DVD+R discs, brand new, never opened. The owner just decided to throw them away. I picked them up and brought them home, but then I wondered why this guy threw away those discs? I presume...

Youtube is driving me loco with the ads

I wouldn't mind clickbait thumbnails so much if the picture was actually included in the video, which, for some creators, seems to never happen. Or when a title promises to reveal the shocking truth about something, and you watch the whole thing and still don't have a clue what was that...

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Well, it's your hardware, you can do whatever you think is good for you. Your USB connections issues could also be related to the quality of your cable. Do you have some others you could try? I've been using the USB cable that came with my Switch Pro controller for years without a single issue.

Misc My USB with Wii games on (Cruzer Blade 64GB SDCZ250) refuses to open on Windows 11

That's assuming he doesn't want to use the USB flash drive anymore on the console. If he just wants to re-purpose it to use in something else, then you're absolutely right.

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

But how do you put your nsp/xci files on the SD card in the first place? If you eject your SD card and plug it in your PC to copy the files, and then you re-insert the SD card in your Switch, then you like living on the edge. The SD card slot on the Switch is known to be flaky, and might break...

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

You can always get games from the eShop, you don't need to mod the Switch Lite for that. But if you meant "without paying for the games", then yes, by all means, get a modchip for the console and install it. It's the only known way for the Switch Lite.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

In Canada, lottery winnings are not taxed. You get to keep everything, even if you just won $50 millions (so about $30 millions US  ). I think the reasoning behind this, is that if the government was to tax the winnings, it would cut the lottery tickets sales so drastically that it would...

    Add a Dislike Button

In the 10 years I've been here, I put about 4 or 5 people on my ignore list. A couple of them are still active, as I see often their quoted comments being NOT displayed as I'm ignoring him. I usually don't understand the reply, but I still don't display the ignored content, because Ignored is...

O.J. Simpson has died at 76 due to prostate cancer

Well, nothing to fear from the dead, but it's just the decency of not attacking someone who can't defend himself anymore. It's like when you're talking to someone, and he goes shit talking about a third person behind his back. Would you respect the shit talker? I know I wouldn't. Luckily, I...

Not supposed to speak ill of the dead, so I won't say anything. I can still think ill of him, though.

    Wrong play time

You're probably aware of this, but just in case you're not, the version @mathew77 linked, while it was probably the latest when he posted it, is not anymore. You can grab the latest, and also unfortunately the last, version here. DBI is still one of the greatest tool for the Switch.

Strange that they keep the scene group in the filename. I know I wouldn't, if I was collecting those roms.

"New Windows driver blocks software from changing default web browser"

Then I guess Linux is not for you. If you try a new distro thinking "I'll do my best to find something I don't like, and then say I hate Linux!", you will never find one that suits your needs. I suspect you prefer seeing a glass as half empty instead of half full. :P

"New Windows driver blocks software from changing default web browser"

I was about to ask the same question. There really is no reason to hate Linux. If someone tries one flavor and doesn't like it, there are tons of others waiting to be discovered. Linux Mint is a good starting point, as it resembles Windows. Granted, I found it a little bit intimidating...
