    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

Thanks for all of the contributors to the thread. To conclude: Please check your data once in a while. Especially on your "cheap" and "dirty" SD Cards (DS/3DS/WiiU/Switch/PSP etc.). They will get slow until they become unreadable (data loss). For me the SD card got very slow within 12 months...

yes. there are tools that do this easily (diskFresh is just one example).

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

That is a common issue for all NAND flash based storage devices, unfortunately. I am wondering why there are not more switch users noticing this. it exists and is reproducible.

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

it is a genuine card according to h2testw. also data was read multiple times. game still was slow as hell. loading times up to 4x slower than usual. after re-writing it was OK again.

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

quite the opposite. I agree that it is unknown to most users, but the fact that data is volatile even on NAND flash is proven fact and slows down most devices that do not have wear leveling or refreshing algorithms in their firmware. which obviously holds true for SD cards. 1700210910 " NAND...

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

I should have added: you might NOT notice the degradation in speed when you are not using it to its full potential. since DS games are only a few MB small, there is no way you will see loading speed increase as significant as on switch (or at all). on switch there are huge amounts of data that...

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

no, that was another system and has nothing to do with the topic. Evo 840 is the same technology the switch uses. and SD cards, too. it is all NAND Flash memory. 1700163813 It has never been about "errors". It is about the data being read slower because of degradation in the gates. they cannot...

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

you are getting things wrong. it is not about the age of the SD cards. it is about the data on them. if data is old, it becomes slow. just test reading it completely and you will see.

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

of course I have plenty of backups. that is not the problem here. all my cards max out the corresponding interfaces/readers because I hate bottlenecks. and it is not about corruption either, which will happen regardless of what technology you use. even HDDs can get corruption (bit rot) as time...

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

yes, card is totally fine. you obviously have not heard about Samsung Evo 840 which started the whole "what? SSD data is not forever" discussion to begin with. at least for end consumers. 1700155246 Nah, it is not as easy as you say. I wish it was. I have only brand cards, no fakes. I test them...

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

That is a great question and subject to a planned update to my article above. I know for a fact now that 1 year was too much for my 512GB SanDisk Ultra, because Mario Kart 8 was one of the games I installed back a year ago and it was crawling a few days ago. loading title screen and races was...

thanks for your help. deleting/re-adding atmosphere, bootloader and config folder fixed it.

    Tutorial PSA: Check your data!!!

Hi at all, it is a well known fact (at least since Samsung's infamous 840 EVO scandal) that data on NAND is volatile. That means it gets harder for a controller to read "old" data. That is the case for our SD cards in nintendo switch consoles. Last year in October 2022 I bought a large 512GB...

can only boot CFW through Hekate, fusee.bin results in Blackscreen

I think Hekate (package3) loader does not need sigpatches. But how does it load games then if sigpatches are not required?

I never used emunand, but I will try your hint with deleting patches and adding them again. 1700030167 never used it, but just to make sure. where is that folder located?

can only boot CFW through Hekate, fusee.bin results in Blackscreen

FAT32 1699999411 hekate boots fine and then ONLY "LAUNCH CFW" works. when I try to load fusee.bin through "Payloads" it results in the same black screen as pushing fusee.bin through tegra or nxloader:

can only boot CFW through Hekate, fusee.bin results in Blackscreen

I updated fusee.bin on both SD card and on my boot devices (windows or android) and pushing it to the switch makes it blackscreen. hekate works fine though.
