    You must have not played a lot of competitive Pokémon. Contrary to intuition the real, noticable, changes are to be found in that part of the games. Don't fix what ain't broken is something I can stand behind. For novelty, try the spin-off series.

    A couple, the real ending which extends the game with an extra level and two bosses has some pretty specific requirements. If you intend to find that one without looking it up you'll be looking a looong time. Also, I enjoyed CS3D.

    Keeping it to a different gaming formula does not necessarily mean "dumbing down". Open world design and linear design are just two different things, one is not a lesser formula than the other. Having always enjoyed 2D mario games this is on my "instabuy" list.
