    Hacking USB-Loader without SD?

I have the GUI-FX loader (link) installed on the FAT partition of my USB HDD Install the channel (wad) and lauch it WITHOUT sd card inserted in the slot, it will create the folder structure in the USB disk. (ALL files there). Once installed, the channel works as a forwarder.

    Hacking USB Loader Forwarder

sorry for the stupid question, but you are asking for a channel (wad) which is a forwarder to usbloader_gx/boot.dol or just a dol file pointing to the app, to be injected in a (custom) wad? I am working a bit on forwarders and channels, so if I understand better your request maybe I can help!

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

Hi, how did you solve the problem? Anyway I also managed to fix my situation: I checked the FAT partition of my HDD and there was a gui-fx folder (when I made install and first launch the HDD was unconnected), without boot.dol file but with the right folder structure. If I delete it, the...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

I don't know if my problem is hardware related (I will buy another SD card and try) but now I added another game to my HD, it is seen and it works by the loader, BUT the cover image is not shown, no way to have it. Of course the png file with the right size is in the right folder as all the...

    Homebrew GUI Forwarder

I like it! I use for some kind of "minimal HBC", with only the app I really use most. But it seemed me stupid to launch it via the HBC (if I'm there I directly launch the needed app) so I made a forwarder channel. This wad forwards to sd:/apps/GUIforwarder . Tested on my wii and works fine...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

OK for the forwarder (I will try ASAP) , for the cover loading I am experiencing the above mentioned problem (but once they are shown, their loading is almost instantaneuous, you're right!) thanks again, B.

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

Shame on me, but I didn't check this. Now (SD card switched back to unlock) I had the loader fully installed via the channel. Just a note, maybe useful for future releases: at the first start the loader recognized only 7 covers (out of my 30 games on HDD). The force option on the config menu...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

So I tried again, unfortunately with the same results (I post them the same, maybe are useful for debugging): - channel installation: wad installed OK, I launch it, doesn't find the GUI-FX folder, so it downloads it. Fine. After that, it reboots the Wii but no new folders in my app directory...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

I've installed the channel, launched it but after downloading GUI-FX my wii reboots and I get nothing in my SD card (i want everything installed there so I keep my USB drive unconnected) I saw the "Channel-Forwarder-Installer video" nd it's exactly what I get on my Wii, but after the reboot ...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

Hi and thanks, I will try as soon as I'll be back home But just another question: ok for covers/theme and block, but this I didn't understand: in the GUI-FX_1.0-RC8.rar archive there is a GUI-FX folder with boot.dol file inside. In your last post, were you referring to some other file? Or...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

sorry for the noob wuestion, but I don't get it... which is the correct directory structure for RC8? (I am having some problems with the installer) SD:/apps/gui-fx/boot.dol for the .dol itself, and for the covers? (the old "coperti" folder) thanks since now!

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

Hi, and thanks for your reply. The steps you described are exactly what I did, the point is that once downloaded the missing covers (point 5 of your list) they are shoed UNTIL I don't reboot the loader itself (not the Wii!) Anyhow I saw that RC8 is out, so later I will try it out and post here...

    Hacking USB Loader GUI-FX

Hi, maybe this post is not so useful, if RC8 is coming out, anyway I tried to install yesterday the RC7 on my Wii (PAL with 3.2 FW, cios_rev9) and the loader is working fine, but not the covers! I created a folder coperti in the root of my SD card, covers are in there with the right size, but...

Hacking Sorgs Uniiloader - Universal Backup Loader with USB/SD/DVD-Support

I THINK (capitals because I didn't test yet the FAT32 stuff) that the support for FAT32 partition is ONLY for some features of the loader (maybe covers?) I stopped at 0.57 because I read that also other people had the "deleted games" issue, 0.57 works fine for me.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
