Hacking DSTT being sold in the US...

It depends on what you have to do to "mod" the console. In the USA, the main thing stopping console "modding" from being legal is the DMCA, which, in a nutshell, says that you can't modify the operation of a device for the purpose of circumventing copyright protection, with the exception of for...

Hacking Safe way to test WAD files

BootMii is not the same thing. BootMii is a mod for Boot2, which is only dependent on having a vulnerable boot1. If you have a target boot1, you can install it and it'll work, with no possibility for incompatibility, aside from some SD cards not working with it, apparently. Preloader is a...

Hacking The main distinction between preloader and Starfall

The April fools day joke was cruel, but it was a clever joke. It's no worse than someone setting your desktop wallpaper to one of those pictures that makes it look like the screen is cracked. Although I guess the possibility did exist for someone to fly off the chain and try to do some...

    Hacking accidental update...

If you were on firmware >3.1 then the most it could have been installing is new versions of the photo/news/weather channel or some IOSs that your Wii didn't have already. The only thing that could have caused a problem is you pulling out the power while it was updating things, and even then the...

Damn hadn't even thought about that.

Hacking Safe way to test WAD files

Is preloader really safe? Renaming the system menu and placing a homebrew app as the first thing (and last thing, if it cocks up) to run on startup seems like a really clumsy and problem prone way to go about brick protection. Is there really no alternative? If no, is .29 the latest...

Hacking Safe way to test WAD files

I don't trust PreLoader or similar. Is there any way to test a WAD without the chance of it causing banner brick?

    Hacking Gamecube USB Loader possble?

You could get around this by having an IOS that doesn't break into Gamecube mode when running Gamecube code. Or at least that's the direction I'm trying to go, but like I said, I'm really not very good at this. I haven't really made much progress since last time I've checked this thread...

Hacking Metroid Prime 3 Backup W/USB Loader

Not all games need to have a disk, but some games (Metroid is the only one I have) will constantly complain that the disk drive is empty. Just put any disk in it. Doesn't have to be the metroid disk, doesn't have to be a legit Wii game, shit, doesn't have to be anything. I have a blank DVD in...

    Hacking Gamecube USB Loader possble?

Really that doesn't matter. The Wii, even in Wii mode, was never made to run software streaming via USB like the USB loader does now. Older games (Like Twilight Princess, for example that uses IOS 9) didn't have any kind of USB support at all, not even for things like keyboards. A custom MIOS...

Hacking Will deleting System Channels (News, Weather, Shop, etc) free up some

It gives you a little more, but not much. The main reason to do it is to get the spaces on the Wii menu. Also don't delete shop.

Hacking How do I Make a GameCube Multi Iso Disc? ON MAC

I don't know of any way to do it on a Mac.

Thanks Marcan...Sorry to see you go....

Waninkoko is evil. Evil is persistant. Marcan is crybaby white night who's throwing a huge hell spell about human nature taking it's natural course. I'm saying it again, if you can't work with or ignore piracy then you need to never make "homebrew" for any piece of software-based consumer...

    Hacking Deleting System Channels

Alright. I did it. You can delete them fine. They do not re-appear on reboot. Games loaded via the USB loader do not attempt to install updates. I booted Brawl and Animal Crossing (both of which come with every update under the sun) and neither prompted for any updates or added the channels...

    Hacking Deleting System Channels

Well they're easy to get back, if what most people are saying is true that any game will try to "update" you to have them if they're gone. Imma try it and report back.

    Hacking Deleting System Channels

Don't games loaded into the USB loader automatically have their update partitions stripped?

    Hacking Deleting System Channels

Pause the USB loader circle jerk for just a moment. I'm excited about the USB loader that shows game boxart, has a pretty menu, forces NTSC, makes you coffee, and jerks you off too, but I have a quick question. Does anyone know?
