Problem solved, after a bit more digging i have found that the sd card needs to be formatted to FAT instead of FAT32- deano469

Sorry was not clear, i tried getting the firmware from the manufacturers site which is http://www.r4sdhc.com but the site was unavailable so i found a mirror site on here which is http://linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ and downloaded from there with no success. I have done a bit of searching on here and tried allsorts but i still cant get it to work. I install the firmware from the site on the box and it hangs on the loading screen so i tried using the r4syauto and menu instead and it still does the same thing.
