I would say, get something written down on it yourself, just incase your friend doesnt turn up/forgets the notes or whatever. At least if you write something down, you can get some peace of mind that you wont be stuck with nothing to say.
The joys of having parents doing all over the place shiftwork, when I was younger they were rarely even in the house to tell me when to go to bed. But seriously, whilst 10pm might be a little early, if you go to sleep alot later, you'll just be making yourself tired - they're just looking out...
