Ordered the grey one because I can always buy different colors later on if something nifty comes along. Also, I plan to do my very best to resist ever updating the firmware.
Well at least Nintendo is finally going to take a good long look in the mirror and fix their pathetic online infrastructure and account system which lead to the eShop being so easily exploited right guys?:P
Two things that I love:
1. It doesn't much seem to care about the size of the images...just kinda works.
2. It uses standard SNES emulator saves so I can just move my existing save files to the proper folder and keep right on playing.
Hey, I'd love a n2DS as I'm one of those people for which the 3D just gives me a headache and doesn't work. (it's why I went with a 2DS in the first place)
Does anyone know how up-to-date CloudA9H is/tries to be in terms of new commits? It's an awesome alternative but it's definitely not spitting-out the same *.3dsx file as compiling your own from delebile's.
Probably not helpful but I did update my 2DS and a friend's n3DS with *.3dsx files compiled using dark_samus3's files after the latest press Home to load another payload addition = both went completely smoothly.
One of the nice things about a hack/exploit being so deeply embedded is that it gives the manufacturer pause when it comes to trying to patch them away because it involves mucking with risky system areas. Nintendo has to weigh exposing the entire userbase to the potential of a brick just to stop...
Honestly, the people who are crazy enough to risk bricking their systems in the process of acquiring their OTP and setting-up A9LH are exactly the kind of people which need that extra level of brick protection and future-proofing.;)
I just went through the exact above process: Updated stage 2, didn't shut off without SD, saw the back-and-forth here, updated stage 1 via the *.3dsx file and yeah now it shuts off perfectly without the SD inserted. :P
Holy shit...I think you got it! Original R4 on Wood 1.62 and I'm playing Dragon Quest IX right now!
edit: More info:
2DS. A9LH (with latest update from Dark Samus). AuReiNand 3.6.1. Installed 'WoodR4_DSi.cia' to both sys (9.2) and emu (10.6).
2DS owner here with A9LH: The only thing to really watch-out for during the downgrade/OTP process is making sure that your wifi is ON. Other than that it's smooth sailing with the o3DS files/instructions. Best of luck.
