ModRetro announces new games and accessories for the Chromatic

This product is for the super GBC fan, because it's an incredible GBC and is priced out of the more casual users reach. Having said that, I've heard mixed responses about the d-pad and don't think metal shells work as well as they look. And it uses the MiSTer's GB core (as does the Pocket) so...

Switch 2 Joy Con teardown shows a marginal redesign

Buying and installing (suitably shielded) hall effect / TMR sticks to replace the time bomb stock sticks in the Joycon 2 should be considered an extra hidden cost.

Do you have a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order yet, and do you plan on buying one at all?

I find the Switch 2 and Nintendo as a whole pretty offensive, so no, there is no preorder or desire to try / buy one. My brother has a preorder and I'm dreading him bringing it over. The only contact I ever plan to have with a Joycon 2 involves me throwing it into the wood chopper.

Homebrew Homebrew app Project [WIP] Musicboy - A new way to listen to music albums on the DS

I am very interested in this and would be keen to test and build music roms in this vision, when and if it becomes possible. Thank you for sharing.

Nintendo Music announced, offers soundtrack collections for Nintendo Switch Online users

One cool thing about listening to CD / tape / vinyl rips of 80s / 90s Nintendo music releases is that they're often mastered really nicely, contain interesting arrange versions and are satisfying front-to-back listening experiences. There's also no creepy Nintendo Corp hoovering up data and...

    Analogue will start pre-orders for their FPGA-based N64 re-imagined console "Analogue 3D"

$250 for a 4K-outputting device is a pleasant surprise, but that's about it. Firstly, it looks like an N64 that was prematurely cut out of the womb half way through pregnancy and had it's entire lower section sliced off with a wire cutter. Those switches hadn't had enough time to align, so...

Nintendo Switch Online gets four new SNES games this month

Cost / benefit analysis comes up negative?

Nintendo Switch Online gets four new SNES games this month

I'm not a NSO subscriber (or Switch owner) so have to imagine how it feels to get a few random under-the-radar SNES ROMs legally tossed my way every so often.. and you know what - it's ok. The emulation is ok, the games are ok. The service in general is ok considering Nintendo could probably...

Does anyone still use Windows 7 as their daily OS?

I never stopped using Windows 7 but took the old laptop it's installed on permanently offline when it went end-of-life. Seemed worth the inconvenience at the time to just use my phone for CPU-heavy tasks and internet access.. but I've gotten used it and the machine was never a great...

Gaming Hardware DS vs. 3DS: Which is better for Gameboy games?

If you must choose either a DS or 3DS for Game Boy emulation.. I'd suggest using an original 2DS because it's the only model that feels kinda like a Game Boy; A solid comfy slab rather than a clamshell. Once upon a time I'd be more interested in other factors but no DS or 3DS can beat that...

The founder of Oculus is releasing a $199 FPGA Game Boy system

I hope this scumbag-produced cash-in on community work fails and loses investors lots of cash.

Can't wait for my Pico to arrive. Thanks for sharing this.

Homebrew Getting crackling sound in some injected SNES games

Yeah I noticed the new translation too (I wonder of it's any different to the previous one that targeted the alternate JPN release). I never did find a reasonable fix for this game for N3DS SNES VC or Nintendo's evolved version of this emulator as found on the SNES Classic emubox. And to be...

Light Crusader, Alien Soldier and Super Fantasy Zone available now on Nintendo Switch Online

I don't know. Unlike Contra Hard Corps, Alien Soldier was 60hz optimised for the PAL release (it literally glitches out at NTSC speed) so in this case it probably won't really make a difference. The PAL version does include slo-mo options upon pausing the game though.

Light Crusader, Alien Soldier and Super Fantasy Zone available now on Nintendo Switch Online

I can't complain about this at all. Sunsoft had previously ported Fantasy Zone to the Famicom, so they were in good stead to make an original one for the Mega Drive. Light Crusader is underrated and technically Impressive. Not exactly my favourite MD Treasure game but legitimately unique in...

    Microsoft Disabling Dev Mode Access

It's a gross move that helps no-one and hurts everyone. Hopefully this will light a fire under the asses of devs who instead of publishing shovelware to keep accounts active will now work to break the system wide open.
