Honestly, I don't think orchestral music would have saved the soundtrack. It's just super forgettable. Fortunately, the rest of the game has been plenty good enough that I don't really care.

I listened to the OST myself, and I find myself despairing why they would cut it from the actual game. Maybe it is one of those things that isn't important to everyone but it is to me. I played DQVIII in its entirety with the custom orchestral soundtrack and to me, it was like playing a dragon quest dream. Same with VII.
