Some people have accidentally broken the pin trying to bend it, it doesn't take much. Also we don't know the long term effects of having those pins permanently connected, probably nothing will happen but there's a small risk.

A guy is giving away jigs and all you have to pay is shipping (which is dirt cheap) so there is not really much reason to mangle the joycon and void its warranty.

Well I had spare joy cons anyway in case it went south. I would use a jig buuuuut... I'm lazy. lol

I got my jig a few days ago, paid £1.70 shipping, haven't tried it out yet though.
