Are you sure you have a 5.0 ghz compatible wifi card in your computer? Also check if your wireless adapter has it's drivers (just look if you can see nearby networks)

How would I check that? Could I check it on Windows? (I was using a virtual machine of Ubuntu for drc-sim)

No, you can't check any of that in windows. UBUNTU needs to see the nearby wireless networks... you know like your home's wifi or whatever

Oh shit wait, if you're running that in virtual machine then you're going to have to setup your wifi adapter to work with it.

You DO have a wifi adapter right?

I think my best bet is to try dual booting Ubuntu with Windows 7

Well, I've been trying it since your tutorial went up but, always got an error in grub after it shows the Ubuntu 16.x . . . .

So you get to grub, but it won't boot to ubuntu (when you select it)?

I just went and tried it, I selected ubuntu, it showed the ubuntu logo with 5 dots and when it loaded up, I got an error of some sort.
