How could a DS flashcard get you banned?

I have no dang idea I have a wifi R4i 3ds sdhc if your wondering this hole thing is annoying due to it could be due to my 1 hour trip into moon but I didn't go online my friend had played as well and hasnt gotten banned I call and they stated there was a unauthorized cart that was used on my system so they couldn't transfer my ID kinda dont care if i am banned just wanted my id I don't know if i want to be unbanned

ill be unbanned and my cart will get me banned -_- I just started using it more this year .. whats frustrating is not knowing what banned me it cant be my cart ! can it? is there a chance my 2ds could get banned to if i use it on that as well sigh .. just keep it on the 3ds now
