    Not sure if it will make a difference, but try formatting your Gateway's mSD as exFAT.

    Either or should be fine, just depends on how much you want to spend on one. If you're going to buy a used one, make sure it's on 9.2 or lower firmware if you want to use Gateway, or anything of that sort.
