How corrupted are we talking? Like, individual file corruption, deleted/corrupted partition table?

Do you have access to browse the files on it? Or can you not even access it (asks you to format it)?

Give this program a shot. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk Try it out, see if it can scan the disk. If not you may need to do a QUICK FORMAT on the drive just to get it into a usable state again, and then try that program. A quick format shouldn't overwrite any data on the drive, just gives it a valid partition table again.
