The only thing I know is that you'll need an exploit (Menuhax/browserhax or ninjhax) to gain userland access, after that you can boot RXTools or Pasta CFW or ReiNAND or Cakes CFW.

That's my problem - I CAN boot into HB BUT every cfw I have tried doesn't work despite being on 9.2. I own a N3DSXL and I KNOW cfw works on N3DS but what's so different about the XL besides the size?
