My workplace has been using Windows 10 for its workstations; only in the past week or so has ONE of them been "updated" to 11 - and by god, is default 11 just so ugly and user-unfriendly.
For one thing, clicking on the clock on the bottom-right? In 10, it shows the date and time, including seconds - not so in 11, for some stupid reason!
Being in a pathology mailroom, we don't use the two desktops for too much - punching in and out, lodging mail counts to AusPost, keeping track of stock in a spreadsheet, etc. - but using 11 compared to 10 is still a horrid experience nonetheless. This is saying nothing of the PCs for the inserters, for that matter.
...Thanks, but that's a company desktop. I can't install anything for security reasons, so it can't be improved unless the IT department decides to do so themselves.
Same here; my own personal W11 laptop has been significantly modified to be far more user-friendly, more akin to 10. Shame I can't do that at work...
I really don't know what Microsoft was even thinking with 11; they fucked up the most visible and primary aspect of their OS - its GUI. That's an unforgivable sin.
I ended up going with ZorinOS, but I feel like I've just done a crime just installing it into his machine without giving him context behind Linux other than giving him stuff to read.
I should've better explained it, but if he needs any help, then I got him covered.
