my 3DS is irreparably chemically contaminated from a fire so now i need to be replacing it but i'd like to not have to start from scratch

What happened? Are you okay?
I don't think this was easily possible, at least not without serious issues and consequences. I think it was pretty important to have console-unique keys backed up from essentials.exefs. I don't remember as much of the software side of things as the hardware side, anymore.

Yes to can. You only need to take in account N3DS create a folder whit the SD card serial as name so, if you change the sd card you need to rename the folder for the old serial to new one

@IC_ my place burnt down and i've lost near everything i own, but a lot of my modded systems were safe but are now contaminated and cannot be cleaned due to the source of the fire, so i have the ability to back some stuff up before they need to be fully disposed of

-at the cost of likely contaminating an SD card reader i'll only use for this purpose

but the incident was about 3 months ago now, and i'm asking here about this specific focus because tempers smart

Gosh, that sounds absolutely awful. It's good if you're surviving that somehow, I definitely wouldn't. It's one of my biggest fears and nightmares.

Well, be sure to back up both the full NAND and essentials.exefs from GM9 if that's still a possibility. Backing up your important save files with a homebrew save manager would be a good idea too.

But I unfortunately don't know much about the possibilities transferring everything over as-is together with NAND user data. You'd probably be better off creating a thread in the 3DS section, where more people would see, and there's no stupid character limit. I'd assume someone had asked about this already as well.
@KleinesSinchen Maybe you remember more about this?
I still miss TurdPooCharger.
