I didn't mean pretending to be different to please. Rather a "smoothing out" of the edges of your character. Love is a compromise and mutual adaptation; give and receive. Don't you agree?

If you want to be respectful you learn and you're doing it for yourself. If they try to change you you're doing it for them and not really acting like the true you which leads to nervousness and ultimate failure.

In theory perhaps, in everyday life no. Living means relating, adapting to others, in every area. Adapting does  not mean changing yourself  completely, distorting yourself, but  mitigating yourself. Otherwise seal yourself in a cave with your odd drinks and junk food, and good bye to the world. 🤬
