Things like cars or buses might be faster, but you miss so much detail.
On one of my walks I found a small pond hidden in the middle of a subdivision. From a car it just looked like a small wall of trees, but when I walked by I could see an amazing pond, peeking out from beyond the thin wall of plants. It was completely undisturbed as if nobody had been there in years.

There was a heavy layer of moss and duckweed on everything, and the plants were so thick you could barely see the walled subdivision 20 feet away. I was surrounded with bird calls and frogs croaking and the rich smell of dirt and bog. It was amazing.
And a few steps away was a roaring road with no nature to be seen at all and the deafening sound of cars, construction, mowers, etc.
