The toad, amused about his success and full of schadenfreude, said to himself: "I will do that again!" searching for another centipede. Once he found one, he repeated: "In what order do you put your feet one behind the other?"
The second, smarter centipede stopped a while, looked at the toad and said (): "You are an idiot. Muscle memory. Once a motion sequence is thoroughly learned and trained…
…the cerebrum isn't really active consciously controlling. Do you think a human, who learned to ride a bicycle, is busy with constantly thinking:
rightLeg.power(100); leftLeg.power(0);
rightLeg.power(0); leftLeg.power(100);
Using brakes and even switching gears becomes automatism. The brain is needed to (hopefully) monitor the traffic (and the not smartphone)."
Too bad you were not present at the event; we would have prevented the centipede from being traumatized.
Note: I don't know what "schadenfreude" means, but it contains the name Freud and so I like it.
@Nikokaro[YouTube] Lisa Simpson – Schadenfreude
I thought the word is one of the few German terms used in English as well.
Schaden → Damage, harm, disadvantage
Freude → Joy, fun
Feeling delighted because somebody is suffering. Connection to sadism.
Good example: Laughing about those "funny" video clips were people fall and hurt themselves.
Not true and you know this.
Partially related: I need some help: Somebody reading through my text. Alexander1970 will do it (and did for the first few pages). Would you be willing to help me with this as well?
"Technical subjects, I don't digest them." → Such topics are (and should be) part of GBAtemp!
There is no pressure of time. My goal is an intermediate level. An introduction for beginners (like myself – hard to find suitable sources), but not only superficial like most information available online. Most sources are already gone (the Wayback Machine to the rescue…)
