I was wondering if you knew about Osho seeing you knew about almost everyone else. Though that quote of his is everywhere and in so many pictures.

I actually have no sympathy for him. Many of the things he writes he has taken here and there and put together. He has a reputation among us as a hypocrite, preaching well but behaving badly, living in luxury and comfort.

I don't agree at all but alright.

Yes, this aphorism is well known and apparently trivial: but it actually describes well the difference between a utilitarian/egoistic (Western) and a spiritual/holistic (Eastern) mentality.

What do you disagree with?

Multiple comments incoming due to char limit.

I've read many of his books, long before the whole buzz caused by the Netflix documentary. Also he never wrote anything in his life, he only spoke and his discourses were written down in books.

He speaks on various masters over the ages, says what they have spoken of and whatnot, but he gives his own explanation to all of them. What he himself has said wasn't taken from anywhere, if not he mentions that it is what the other masters have also said.

As for the luxury and comfort, I have no issue with it at all. He has explained many times the key to life is to live both in the material and spiritual world together, and it is the mistake of previous masters to block one side of life entirely.

And that I agree with totally. That was one of his main messages, "Zorba the Buddha". Take Zorba the Greek, who enjoys all what life has to give, and merge him with the Buddha, the inner scientist. /end

It seems to me from your tone that you are resentful. I hope not. We are just comparing notes. I welcome you with open arms and accept your position. I don't know Osho well. I only reported what is said in Italy.

Even if he had taken inspiration from other masters, this is certainly not to say that it is negative: certain spiritual truths are in themselves eternal, only the language changes.

Exactly, truth is one, the conversion into language may differ sometimes only.

And no worries, not at all, no resentment was there. I recommend you read one or two of his books if you have time, maybe one of the Zen ones. He has spoken on most of the masters you've quoted, which is why I liked the Basho quote you posted. One of my favourites.
