Quite the opposite.
The day I can spend around the price of a rich man's hobby (fancy car, workshop, serious audio setup...), possibly have to employ all my technical skills and a few besides, and have to be dragged kicking and screaming back to reality is the day I go for it. That will probably be way before any massive consumer takeup and effort.
That or it becomes cheap enough and has some games worth playing.

Currently a minimum of $300 and I have a list of games.

But uh-
It would be a bit unhealthy to say the least if you got to the point where you had to be dragged back to reality.

...Which is why people ignore that and continue to make it as realistic as possible while maintaining an affordable price

Are these games people will want to play in 10 years, give or take as an exercise in "seeing where things came from"?
Anyway I am still waiting on that megathread covering all the latest and greatest, one so hopping that we can't ignore it and instead have to make a section.

Well depends on why people would wanna come back. There’s a select few games from the early days that will be enjoyable forever and certainly nostalgic. And some of them were so high effort that a few of them still qualify as a couple of the best VR games so far.

And what exactly would the megathread be about? If it were just VR news I could still manage to fill that thread weekly with VR news that people would give a shit about. Not just small things like “New AAA indie VR game maybe it’ll fail maybe it won’t but anyways it’s out”

If you don’t mean news, then... wat would I put in it?

Have you heard about this new amazing game called Half Life: Alyx? It's gaming like you've never seen it before, you won't want to miss this gem! Your mind will be blown.

Yeah that is the usual content. New games, new devices, new versions of software, big established company investing in a new VR title, company going pop, company doing something anti consumer...
