Being able to instantly undo mistakes has been a blessing - and the goddamn Moon practically requires it, what with the stupid Goron and Zora segments that force you to restart should you (very easily) fail.
For Goron, you have to be DEAD. STRAIGHT. whilst rolling quickly on narrow platforms and bouncing off chests - not easy to do with an analog stick.

The GameCube controller via Wii VC at least had physical notches, making it easier.
For Zora, it's swim through one of two or three tunnels and make a breach onto the platform. If you choose the wrong tunnel (it's Left-Right-Middle for the Heart Piece and L-R-Top to complete this segment, and I'm not aware of anything in-game telling you this)

or you fuck up the breach (very easy to do), you get sent back to the very start.
WHICH MORON DESIGNED THESE SEGMENTS‽ DID THEY *WANT* TO TORTURE PLAYERS?

They were painful on my actual New 3DS XL; I'm just glad Citra has save states, which act as a band-aid.

Oh, and by "8bitdo" I mean SN30 Pro+. Wonderful controller, though not as good as the old Wii U Pro Controller, in my eyes - except 8bitdo has turbo.

Lastly, is it weird for me to say I wish Tael was my fairy companion, rather than the hotheaded Tatl? Never did like Tatl, honestly.

Isn't it a bad remake?

Without the Restoration patch, it's a mediocre remake with a shitty ending. With the Restoration patch, it's a great remake with a shitty ending.

What fun is "beating" a game (or parts of it) when using save states? Majora is not burned into my memory like Ocarina but I did a couple of playthroughs (N64, GC, New 3DS) and don't remember any /really/ unfair parts. Challenging at times (compared to Ocarina), but no unfair beginners traps or cruel punishments. The Goron stage on the moon is challenging as well as the final boss when not using Fierce Deity Mask.

You could still get the thrill of the adventure with save states. That part also happens to be at the end of the game and you might just wanna beat it

Maybe it is just me. In my childhood I had few games. It was fun mastering them. Playing half an hour through known levels to see a glimpse of the next level with one life remaining. Getting a little further each time. And that feeling when finally beating a game… little girl holding a Game Boy with sweaty hands fighting the final boss… "Don't make a mistake now!"
A save state feature would have ruined this entirely.

Zelda games, even NES, are pretty big and needed a save feature on their own right in the 1980s. But that doesn’t mean it makes sense saving each mini-step of progress. Majora demands some planing and time management: What will I do with this 3-day cycle? In what order? When do events happen?
Each major achievement or inventory piece can be saved permanently – once you successfully did some non-savable pre-work.

I personally like save states because they enable you to try stupid stuff, like, you wanna see where you land if you jump and use blast mask while in the air? Go ahead, do that 30 times
Save states are silly, and they don't have to negate the challenge of a game. I tend to do them during annoying bomb hovers personally (which yeah, makes it less challenging, but more fun)

@KleinesSinchen Considering MM3D still doesn't allow for free saving (it's better than the original MM, which only allowed saving upon resetting time and losing all progress, but it's still no OoT), and time management is indeed a very important mechanic, being able to use save states to avoid wasted time from falling off Ikana Castle due to a Guay, or that annoying Treasure Chest Shop, is a blessing.

I've beaten MM3D several times already without save states, on my 3DS systems, so "that feeling when finally beating a game" doesn't apply. And the Moon mini-dungeons are flat-out poorly designed.
As it is, I'm not into challenge or frustration; I'm into experiencing and finishing a game, mods or cheats or save states be damned.

@Ricken Hey, you're named after an awesome Fire Emblem: Awakening character; that's nice!
Also, never tried bomb-hovers, or any other glitch. I prefer playing my games as 'vanilla-enhanced' as I can (so going through dungeons and stuff as intended, except with like infinite health in DOOM or infinite stamina in shitty open-world games that don't already feature it, or instant attackSpeed in Minecraft).

Yep! Ricken was a favorite to me out of the game, and I figured it'd be a name nobody took so now it's mine here
I've milked so much out of vanilla OoT/MM, and adding glitches to them just makes them more fun to replay in my book; especially when getting a randomizer involved. I've learned so many tricks and glitch applications that I get excited for every niche opportunity to perform a glitch to my advantage
