If it's "winter", then why is it so SO HOT?
Got both a standing fan and my roof fan going, and it's still barely tolerable. Only when I turn the air con on, *alongside* the two fans, does it become acceptable - kinda.

I don't like winter much either, honestly. Both heat and cold are dreadful. I'd much rather have the more average autumn and spring, than those two extremes.

But we aren't even a month in? Shouldn't midwinter be 1.5 months into the season?

Not quite, seasons don't start at the beginning of months. Winter started December 21st and the last day will be March 19th. Midwinter will be February 2nd-3rd

that's definitely not how it works in denmark, but I digress, I'm pretty sure that is an american thing

Everywhere in the northern hemisphere winter starts on the winter solstice (december 21st) and ends at the spring equinox (march 20). It's not just an american thing.

This should make it clearer why the half way point is in february

well its definitely not the colloquial understanding as seen on danish calendars, even if it is the scientific one :3

That's really interesting I had no clue not everyone used the astronomical definitions. I would be super curious to learn what countries used what more often. Now I'm wondering if we (americans) are the minority.

It seems to be different across Europe, UK/France/Germany/Portugal use astronomical, Denmark/Russia/Norway/Georgia use meteorological
