Xbox to offer digital licences with physical disc purchases

If they contain licensed cars (or music), that might be the reason. The licensing may make it impossible legally, even though logically it seems like it should be allowed. It's not as if they don't want this to work for all games.

I dont get what people find hard about this.

It'll simply do what pc used to do, use disc to prove you own the game.

In theory Microsoft could still:
• go down the digital only method like Sony
• block pre owned gaming (which xbox had planned)

This is just another push towards the same objective as Sony, but itll give hopefully accurate data on what gamers are actually doing.

And focus on that area.

Like, is it worth paying to stupidly have devs port retro games over when only a tiny % even use it (vs just making an actual emulator of its previous windows os system running sorry xbox console).

In the end your literally handing over data to MS as facts more gamers now gone over to digital only.

Whereas Sony may have had actual data records of sales off PSN.

And looking how terrible MS have been doing for a long time and plus its MS and they never do anything right, they probably had nothing reliable as its sh1tbox app trying to be like apple and steam an AIO app store....

I really would expect a better attack on a great pro-consumer MSFT strategy from an obvious Sony fanboi than this. "Microsoft could still..." is cute. Microsoft could still give us hundreds of free games. They could still send every Xbox owner a check for $500. There are lots of things MSFT could do. Until they do it, there's no argument.

Of course MSFT is getting rid of physical discs. Why on Earth wouldn't they? PC users gave them up decades ago without whining, and no amount of incessant whining from the 2% of Playtstation fans who care about this is going to change anything. Focus on that. Since you obviously don't own Xbox, why do you even care about this great announcement for Xbox fans? Go back to hating Sony for doing the sensible thing and stop trying to downplay a great plan that Sony absolutely cannot match because they were not smart enough to serialize their physical media.
