Hello everyone, not sure if this thread is alive, but just as I was going to post success with FB8660B (2022 Legends model) adding Atari support, I bricked my Flashback Legends 2022 with... AtGames own official firmware.
I kindly need your help, hope someone can revive my console.
So the console came with stock FB8660B firmware 1.0.2.
Sometime ago, I had managed to get a reply from AtGames who sent me a link to 2 files for the FB8660B as it did not feature in their "Firmware download" pages...
- FB8660B_20211026.img ± 180MB
- arcade_update_FB8660B_20210830.img ± 20MB ← slightly older
So after days of chatting with AI, as technical information was not gathered in one place, I had managed to open the update .img, add Stella core, repackage it and flashed it -- to success. I was able to play .a26 games that DID appear before in the menus but could not launch -- just missed the Stella emulator that AtGames (rather on purpose?) did not include.
So then I decided -idiot- to do things right:
I realised that FB8660B_20211026.img was newer, so I put it in a formatted SD, renamed it to arcade_update.img then booted my 2022 console, asked and confirmed to flash it and since then, I am caught in a boot loop...
The process keeps looping between a slowly-moving progress bar screen and a screen without a progress bar, always showing "Installing system update" with the animated rings and rebooting all the time after some minutes.
After hours, I unplugged the SD and when the console rebooted, it only showed an "Error!" message. Frustrated, I kept long-pressing the secondary button and entered an Android Recovery Screen!
So "Reboot system now" failed as it could not mount /system or /cache or /data so the OS was wiped.
"Apply update from SD card" does see the SD card mounted but not files, i.e. I see the couple of folders inside, but cannot choose the file to be used.
I placed in both SD card root the "arcade_update.img" and inside some folder (on purpose) but even there, it wasn't visible. I think the stupid browser hides all files except some extensions...
The image below is taken by photo, when no SD card was inserted and when "Error!" was shown on-screen and pressing the secondary button over 5-6 seconds.
Any kind soul to help me recover from this mess?
I have a nice IMG updater file ready with Stella to share and wanted to re-test it to be sure it works 100%...
Many thanks guys.
UPDATE: I realise this may not be a post directly related to the thread and I apologise... The idea is to create a workflow to keep up-to-date the FB8660B console, including my repackaged IMG file.
