Well I partially fixed my faulty OG Xbox, got the PSU working.

I replaced the two bulging caps, turned it on and:

Fortunately I had the system on it's own RCD.

I took a look and it turned out the other big cap was leaking....from the bottom, thankfully I bought a set of two replacement caps so I replaced it.

Unfortunately it still wouldn't boot (and yes I checked the fuses).

In the end I recapped everything on the PSU except one cap I lacked spares for and I now get the console to power on.

Now I need to look at the lack of video output from last time I used this.

Update:

ANNNND IT'S DEAD AGAIN

Got a BitFunx GDEMU and shell for my Dreamcast along with a USB-C mod. Just put it all together today.

Very purty, I likey. What Material you use on 3D printer? And are you using a dif final topper setting on prints or something? Love that texture, but I have only been able to achieve that same look, by using a Carbon fiber based material (PLA-CF).
edit- I didn't need to know Jayro's ancient secret secrets, i just wanted a little hint maybe. Much love either way.

Just Matte black PLA on the textured bed that it came with.

Yeah, the little backlight and 3D adjustment flex cables aren't long enough to position the screen in the center. Could try to extend those with little wires, but this was already fiddly enough tbh :v

So far I've reshelled three OG DS out of the four I got from Japan labeled as junk.

One more to go and I have to change the top screen on it. Once I'm done with those, I want to try my hand at reshelling a DS Lite that needs restoration work.

I fixed a Switch 2 Pro Controller's R3 click button which didn't work, bought it off Ebay as faulty for cheap, turns out there must have been some liquid spill that lifted the R3 button's ?Dome? its supposed to be stuck down but liquid got under it and shifted just enough for it to stop making contact with the carbon trace :)
The Switch Pro 2 controller is a absolute pita to open, the controller face is glued down and had to more or less completely disassemble it just to get to the stick, then I had to pry open the stick to get to the dome thing. Once I got the dome back in place it was just a matter of putting it all together. Lots of screws lots of stress..

Never again lol

I slapped a couple of 18650 reclaimed from a dead notebook to a cheap LED flashlight, together with a tp4056 and a boost converter to 5v (original was 3x1.5v AA in series).
