So I've had a wii for a while, started modding it about a year ago, but ran into the issue of actually getting games on it. I wanted to use the sd card slot in the front, but I didn't really find any great solutions to do that. So I figured "Alright I guess I'll just have to use a usb." Of course I didn't have a usb flash drive lying around with anything above 32 gigs so I decided to use an sd card and usb to sd converter, and then weird stuff started happening. The converter I was using kinda died out on me so I figured it was just faulty and waited to get a new one. I let the project sit for about a year. I came back to it tonight after finally having an sd card and converter, I get it all set up, I use TinyWiiBackupManager, I transfer one game just to make sure it was working (it was) then I unplug it from the wii, and plug it back into my pc only for TinyWii to start stalling. It would say the isos were being converted, but nothing was happening which was weird since the first game I tried took a minute, but was actually showing its progress. I decided to see if something was wrong with the Sd card and windows was freaking out about it saying it was having issues. I let windows fix it, but nothing changed. Eventually I decided to try and format the sd card again to start from scratch, but now all of a sudden it refused to format back to fat32 (its a 256 card). I tried everything. I checked different sized cards, they worked fine, I checked different sd to usb connectors I had lying around nothing changed, I tried formatting other cards, nothing, I even tried doing this whole process again on my laptop and still fucking nothing. I think its completely dead now can't even format it back to exfat anymore. Tried looking this up and I got nothing. Is this something thats happened to anyone else or is my wii just cursed?

Okay so you could put one Wii game on this sd to usb adapter with some software, and it worked.

Your Wii isn't cursed, because all of this stuff that went wrong didn't involve it.

The adapter could be bad, or maybe the software you're using doesn't like it beyond a single game.

In general you want an actual USB platter hard drive, ideally an older USB2 one. Also I always used WiiBackupManager, I'm not familiar with the software you're using.

You can put backups on the Wii SD card, for the actual slot in the front. It's not really different from what you already did. Reminder: must be formatted FAT32 (not exFAT). Depending on how unhacked your Wii is a larger SD card may not play nice - older virgin Wiis often only tolerate 2GB max size SD cards and you have to update and hack them to get SDHC support.
