Pokemon Infinite Fusion sequel announced, set in Hoenn region with more than 70 new Pokemon

For those who missed the original fan-game, Pokemon Infinite Fusion is a hugely popular title retelling the events of Kanto with a twist: every Pokemon can be fused with every other Pokemon. Combining typing, stats, move pools, and more, this created hundreds of thousands of combinations to make every playthrough genuinely unique. Add to this a new storyline that makes use of fused Pokemon with a genuinely challenging finale, and you have one of the best Pokemon fan-games to date. And with one of the best fan-games, it only makes sense to have a sequel!

Pokemon Infinite Fusion: Hoenn continues the legacy by promising more than 70 new Pokemon on top of the original roster, each with the capabilities to be fused. This means we're looking at a Pokedex of more than 300,000 for the completionists at home. As the name suggests, the game will be set in the Hoenn region, introducing a custom fusion-centric plot not dissimilar to the first game. The trailer also teases overworld encounters, dynamic weather, a ton of side content, and even the ability to transfer your Pokemon from the original game.

Those eager to sink their teeth into this new content might be a little disappointed to know that it won't all be dropping at the same time, with four releases currently planned according to the FAQ:
  • Release 1: Gyms 1-2
  • Release 2: Gyms 1-6
  • Release 3: Up to the league
  • Release 4: Postgame
The first release is set to drop on the 12th of June, and will be available via the game's Discord server. The team also put together an FAQ page to answer common questions, which you can find below.

All mons will be shared between games right?
The sequel will include the new 70+ Pokemon on top of the original Pokedex, with Pokemon caught in the previous game being transferable. It doesn't seem to mention a way to go back to Infinite Fusion 1 with the Pokemon though. Would be cool if they made a Pokemon Bank style app for the games to facilitate something like that.

God I wish Pokemon Essentials would become a RPG Maker MZ or even better, a Godot thing.
I want to enjoy those fangames, but when the native resolution of the game is 480p with the wreird jank and unstability of good old old RPG Maker XP it's a bit hard to truly enjoy it.

I feel you here. I'm really hoping the BDSP modding efforts flourish and that ends up being a new base for these kinds of things. Infinite Fusion is the one fan game I've found was worth the jank though. If you've not tried it it is very much worth it.

BDSP really isn't that difficult to mod because it uses unity as a engine and if one if familiar with DP's code they should feel right at home because alot of BDSP's internal code is directly copy and pasted from the original which is why some things like dual slot features are still present but go entirely unused.

There's only like one guy to my knowledge who really actively works on BDSP mods but I think it's because most are trying to get other games off the ground first in terms of what they're capable of, but that's just speculation.

Many (including myself) thought BDSP modding would kick off past LP but things just kinda got quiet after the hype.

Don't care about MZ (though it would be nice for mobile ports), but definitely would love it to be ported to Godot, or even Unity for Switch support.
