QUICK QUESTION WITH HOPES TO GET AN ANSWER FROM USERS OUTSIDE OF MURICA BEFORE THREAD GETS LOCKED FROM FURTHER REPLIES.

Is your English getting the same treatment as American English?

Eh-heh... always wondered why, for example, when installing software I can choose from:
- English (CA)
- English (UK)
- English (US)

Are you folks in Canada, UK and other parts of the world, which language is English of some sort... getting this same treatmen as murica english does?

Teacher just dumb bigot who bought into culture war. Singular they has been correct for like 400 years, which is significantly before Epstein began his plan to push transphobia on our culture to drive more vulnerable kids into sex slavery.

hippy is an ignorant worker of iniquity who bought into culture war. Singular ability to send a six-hundred-pound bag to the ceiling (and completely overpower the wealthiest boxers) has been present for years since the 1960's in South America, which is significantly before Mike Tyson began his plan to push violence phobia on our culture to drive more vulnerable kids into giving into violence our of fear instead of hating and overpowering it through Faith, Hope, and Charity, as I have:

What the fuck? And no, it was pushed during and after Occupy Wall Street, so it'll never happen again.

Pretty soon it'll become
-English (CA and democrat)
-English (UK)
-Murrican (redneck republican)

To answer: not English and haven't been to school in years, but to my knowledge the rest of the world remains the same, no matter how woke-branded it gets. Teachers should know their shit... Or they're shit. ;)

I appreciate that it's so horrendous and over the top that it sounds like nut job conspiracy, but it's actually just documented facts from the files.

Also idk what you mean in relation to occupy wall street.

Speaking of American English, does anyone here use it to explain if they can speak ESpanish? After all, ESpanish is a commonly used term by American countries such as Mexico and Colombia.

This just sounds like an idiot who got into a teaching position. Sadly, that does happen in the US. American English is more of "Capitalism shorted words" because English words were changed/shortened due to the printing presses charging per letter. There are also just regional changes to words, like "y'all" in the Midwest/Southern states.

idiots love to try to get into teaching positions, and they hate it when us teachers call them out on it.

This is the correct answer, and I'm American trash.

Apparently there's no official language regulator for English, so if most people agree on the way of using the language then that's the right way. I think that the more accurate pronoun would be "it", since "they" is plural, but that's the one that most people seem to use.

Singular "they" exists, and calling someone an "it" is just dehumanizing and gross.

Good thing I studied real English in school, with no American stuff shoved in it.
Have you tried _real_ Southern Quechua, an American language with no fluff stuffed into it? Peru and Bolivia use it.

And what do you have against Canadian stuff in English? They are American too.

English (UK) vs English (Simplified), what do you think is better? :P

English isn't an official language in my country and many people struggle with it, but any serious Internet/tech users are very familiar with it. That being said, Americanisms seem to be more prevalent, and I can only imagine that's due to mass media. Even in the UK, there's been a rise of Americanisms largely attributed to just that.

As for singular "they", while everyone is entitled to their opinion, framing it as a modern pronoun thing is ill-informed in the scope of language itself. I sure as hell never use "his or her" for an unknown subject when "their" is much less of a tongue twister.

I don't even remotely speak that.
No worries. I was making a joke off the "American" word.

"Those Americans really like their Hockey over in Quebec."

"That American works really hard in Bolivia. he is definitely not entitled given how poor he is over there."

"I tried to speak to an American, but he was speaking in Portuguese near São Paulo."

"These Americans really enjoy family-centered culture as they watch Mariachi bands play."

"Why do those Americans say 'como te (J)ama', instead of 'como te (y)ama' like the other Americans?"

"Americans seem really skilled at crafting arrows; I found many ancient Amercian arrowheads around here."

"Take a look at this American song played by a local American; not too bad, is it?"
