Twilight Princess PC port "Dusk" gets its first release

It wasn't too long ago we saw our first glimpse of Courage Reborn, another Twilight Princess PC port in the works based on last year's decompilation efforts. With each port offering its own take on what an enhanced version of the game could look like, it's a fantastic time to be a fan of the game. And for those wanting to jump back into Hyrule right now, good news has arrived. Dusk has had its first release.

Available for Windows, Mac (ARM and x86), Linux (ARM and x86), Android, and iOS, you will struggle to not have a way to play. Featuring controller-friendly menus, you really just need an ISO for the game to get started. Once that's loaded in, you're able to pick whether you want the classic GameCube experience, or a bunch of new quality of life and graphical changes as your starting point. This port features a great variety of tweaks, most notably for me including an on the fly way to mirror the overworld. Those who grew up playing the Wii version will find this invaluable.

Along with the release, we also got a brief trailer covering a lot of what's included:

A lot of this was fairly well known, with the only major announcement coming at the end with the tease of a randomiser mode. Those interested in getting this setup for themselves can find the downloads below. As mentioned before you will need to supply your own ISO.

just need to put the texture folder "gz2" i think it was called inside this directory in your pc -> C:\Users\your user\AppData\Roaming\TwilitRealm\Dusk\texture_replacements
Do you have the Answer for MAC OS aswell? :D

Thanks! Wasn't seeing that option as i am using @TheStonedModder launcher which i think points to the dusk.exe and not the new dusklight.exe.

@TheStonedModder can we get a fix for this as i really like using your launcher?
One of the next updates to dusk light will have this implanted officially someone posted a screenshot in their dev channel about an hour ago

I also don’t really want to make anything else for their project their dev team is hella toxic I’d you’re not apart of their circle jerk

Fair enough! Thanks for making the launcher anyways. I found it useful :)

Please tell me one of your have started a repo for a Vita port!
Switch can barely run it. I doubt vita can. At least not dusk maybe courage reborn

Also with how toxic the devs were on the switch port and threating to ban people talking about it. I doubt anyone is really going to step up to contribute something of that scope

tbf, the Switch is one of the most unstable hb environments ever. I gave up emulating games on it because they always crash at random. Not saying Vita is much better though.

Switch is great for emulation, it's probably your settings

Yeah but then it runs out of battery, even though it's been less than a week, and it's in flight mode and in standby.
And then I have to plug in the USB again.

All around, total trash imo. The screen is bad as well.

Good stuff. PC decomps/recomps are always rad in my book with untapped framerates and greater freedom compared to the limitations of emulators. Tbh I don't understand why video game publishers don't release the source code after a few years when they've gained all the initial profit (preferably with GPLv3), John Carmack aside.

On another topic, can anyone tell me if Dolby Pro Logic is retained with these PC Ports for surround sound? I know Pro Logic is outdated but that was used on the GC/Wii and PS2 to enable surround sound with matrixed stereo that was in the first party Nintendo games. I can testify that modern AV receivers decode Dolby Pro Logic properly like my Denon X3800H but I've heard conflicting things about pro logic i/ii compatibility with emulation or PC Ports so if I could get some closure then that would be lovely, thanks.

That's completely different to it apparently crashing all the time though

If it wasnt for a few dumb choices I would actually really enjoy this. Though the dealbreaker for me is how they are handling higher framerates. Essentially instead properly using time delta and just making the game run at a higher framerate. They are instead using frame interpolation which.... to me is a dealbreaker.

Now.......Windwaker!!

Edit: 63% complete ANNND Twilight Princess / Windwaker share the same code so we should get this before the end of the year
Chances are most of that 63% is the stuff they share.
