Celia's Stupid Romhack is a bizarre comedic puzzling take on Kanto that's way more thorough than you'd expect

Are you the kind of person who thinks Pokemon takes itself too seriously nowadays? That lives for the Kanto region? And loves a good old DMCA joke? Well do I have the hack for you! After three demos and two years of development, Celia's Stupid Romhack has finally seen its full release, quite fittingly on the 20th of April. With secrets promised around every corner, it's the kind of hack you really do need to appreciate for yourself; you should be able to get a decent idea as to whether it's something you'll enjoy by watching the trailer. From my brief time playing it I can say that more effort has been put into this than the name would make you think.

Those interested can grab the game directly from Hackdex, with the site patching the ROM for you with very little effort.

I see that mushrooms are quite popular among the world these days, especially the hallucinogen ones. No wonder the world does not get along with me.

I had a quick skim of that playthrough that was posted here, and I see one random NPC who talks about their nicknames has a Spearow called "Spearownolactone". The people playing didn't know what this means.

This is a pun of "Spironolactone", a diuretic medication used to treat heart disease.

My point is, these are extremely powerful medical-grade jokes. You need a very high IQ to understand this romhack or the jokes will fly straight over your head. The creator is very powerful.

Its also used as a testosterone blocker for use in hormone replacement therapy gender transitioning. Which is probably more the likely reason it was included as opposed to heart health awareness.

Or else a very low one of zero, like me.

No slowethidiumbromide? No character stubbing their toe and saying "ouch, mitosis!"? No team trip-toe fan? No pediatric radiologeodude?

They thought we wouldn't notice. 💅

How is it a powerful joke though? It's just a portmanteau of a pokemon species name and the name of a heart medication... hilarious?

I see, I guess, for how 'high-brow' that humor is supposed to be; it takes a fair amount more to make me laugh.

Makes me think of the difference of The Big Bang Theory vs. Community, both shows aired opposite of each other, and The Big Bang Theory was the more successful series, but at the end of the day, that show was all about stupid, simple jokes about smart people, while the far superior comedy (in my book anyway) was Community, a show about incredibly smart jokes about some pretty dumb people lol.

I can see why The Big Bang Theory was the more successful series though, as I suspect there are far more simple people that latch onto that kind of humor over what the likes of Community had to offer,.

Clearly your IQ is too high, its a common problem.
