PC-98 translations updates (2023)

It looks like the nearly complete translation (~90%) of Xenon has been released, but to my surprise, many of the opening lines still haven't been translated. Since the protagonist must present the exact description of his dream to his doctor, it's impossible to continue, as many of the alternatives are still in japanese. Damn! And also, numbers often appear at the end of the lines, indicating the position of the text. Isn't anyone doing a preliminary beta test? As it is, it's unreadable, alas. This is how you can ruin a masterpiece! At least release the patch only when it's complete and fully edited.🤦🏻‍♂️

Edit: I have reported these issues, in more calm tones 😅, to the author on Github.
Edit2: The author kindly replied that these issues will be fixed in the next release. 😗

The latest version of  Xenon has fixed the bugs I highlighted. And a full translation of  Nova, a sci-fi VN, has also been released. For anyone interested, I've attached a fix for the dialog box background, where the text was hard to read (thanks to a user on Discord).

That's great news. The last time I saw a translator's progress reports, the translation of Xenon was about 60 % complete. And now the translation is almost completed :grog:

One more piece of good news! Nova has pretty good graphics. Surprisingly, the translation is posted on the cdromance, but not on romhackplaza and similar web-sites :unsure:

A re-release of the Kurutta Kaijitsu will be released in May of this 2026. With a translation into English. I wonder if the Hoshiruna will stop translating the PC-98 version of Kurutta Kaijitsu? :unsure: I hope - translation will be continued.

Hi, to be fair i remember ive played Xenon a few years ago - i dont know, 2023? - ainda it all went well translated until the ending

After the first ending, you get a "dream sequence 1 ending" and i remember a new start gave me japanese text

With news of an update for the translation, ive got to play it again (its a very interesting game - or maybe it isnt and just got me curious, because to be fair this first run doesnt exactly explain all the plot points)

My only question is: ive just finished the Dream 1 sequence (its pretty short and with several save points in between). The credits show, you get a "Fin" message. I just dont know how to start the second run of the game

Can you ask the guys from the translation, or point me their github or something?

Hi. If I remember correctly, you have to start over, and the text initially seems identical, but then both the scenes and the text change. To be honest, aside from the excellent graphics (for the PC-98), I was quite disappointed by the somewhat confusing plot and the repetitive images and dialogue. But thanks god other projects are now nearing completion...😉

Thanks, thats exactly what happened to me: i started it over, but since the text was the same i was unsure....

will give it a go tonight. But i really hate when good concepts and mistery box plots end up being dissapointing..... but now i have to end it

I wonder if there's any movement on translating this game Marine Philt. The art is outstanding, the music slaps, and it's centered around an alien that feeds on Nuclear Waste, which is extremely cool.

Frankly, the second I heard about it, it INSTANTLY got me dying to play it. Here's hoping a translation isn't eons away 🙏🏽

I've just uploaded a translation for "Dragoon Armor for Adult" by fuzion (author of the "Nova" patch). Valley Bell and I worked on the project on the hacking/scripting department. I'm not the author of the translation so I think it still belongs in this thread.

Nah, I'm afraid not. I wonder why the author of the other patches didn't translate it back then. I asked on Discord if any hackers were interested, but so far no response. 🤷🏻‍♂️
