Hello! Im just wondering if there is anyone on here who was around back in the day when the first ever NEO Flash Cartridge came out that enabled piracy for the very first time. I'm trying to put together a timeline of when certain events happened in the DS hacking history, and have conflicting sources saying It came out in August of 2005, and one saying it came out in July of 2005. Can anyone who was really there or knows when it really came out let me know? I'm talking specifically about the first NEO flash cartridge that worked with pirated NDS roms

Any help or points towards helpful threads or resource's would be so so apricate thank you so much in advance!!! :3

I FOUDN IT ! IT WAS MAY 2006 ! I NOT KNOW HOW TO DELETE POST !
Not May 2006, but 2005
There's a post on the Chinese website Zhihu about the history of DS hacking. You can use your browser's translation function to view it. NDS平台破解&烧录史

Me I remmember that DarkFader hacked the ds, with a home made flashcard.
NeoFlash 2 slot flashcard was the first to load ds roms, back in the day I got a Suoercard SD and a Passme card.
those where based on the Neoflash.

what do you mean homemade flash cart

Why was PassMe even a thing? It looks like such a cumbersome setup, loading DS games from Slot 2 doesn't make sense to me.
This is because darkfader's use of passthrough technology to load hacked DS game from slot 2 was the starting point for DS hacking. This was followed by PassMe, WiFiMe, FlashMe, PassMe2, and PassMe3 (/NoPass). When technology develop into NoPass, slot1ds flashcarts become available, thus rendering the slot2 ds flashcart obsolete.
This is a process of technological development and iteration. Without the development of the Slot 2 flashcart, there would be no widespread adoption of the Slot 1 flashcart today.

omfg I had not seen this before, what a good resource thank you so much
besides, i found some more detail timeline. NeoFlash began its promotional campaign around April 19th 2005. It officially went on sale around May 20th 2005.

During this period, Neoflash advertised that DS developers with their own websites or game website administrators could receive free kits for testing if they contact neoflash. They also hoped that major websites would display Neoflash's promotional logo.

Interestingly, while wifime's official website also displayed the Neoflash logo, but it included a circled and slashed "ban" symbol. It seems wifime and Neoflash are at odds; it's unclear whether this is due to some personal grudge or a resistance to Neoflash's apparent intention to use Passme technology for commercial pirate game loading.
