Background:

Taiko no Tatsujin Portable 2 (Taiko PSP2 for short) DLC download server was shut down in 2018.
Before its shutdown, the download was free.
The DLCs consist of .DON files and .KAT files.
.DON files are large (~3 MiB) but universal.
.KAT files are small (140 bytes per each) but console locked.

Question:

Is talking about cracking these .KAT files illegal?
It's available to be cracked by AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or even your local LLM) now.

i own Taiko no Tatsujin Portable and the sequel (exclude DX). i'll try to check them out. and decrypt them first.
