Both are the new version, just for the different Omega flashcart versions. If you have the original Omega, flash with ezkernel.bin. If you have the Omega Definitive Edition, flash with ezkernelnew.bin:)
Flashing now on DE. Will update this post.

That looks really cool! Cheers @FrankieT19

Seems the test build is working fine! Though I don't see the new thumbnail viewer modes, granted this is the non-DE so maybe it's DE only. :p

EDIT: Nevermind I was being silly and updated using the wrong .bin, here you go!

I just tried in my EZ Flash Omega DE.
I can't wait until the official release. (And the Yoshi theme is available)
(Yep, i use a Nintendo DS, because my GBA SP it's not IPS)

Nice! Thanks for testing. Can I ask: what menu were you in before taking this picture? It looks like it didn't refresh the screen properly when leaving it. I'll try fix this.

Thank you! That really helps me:D. I'll fix that for the full release.

I don't know how much you are planning on digging into the guts of Simple but flubba is looking for a little help getting his Neo Geo Pocket Color plugin working with it. I don't know squat about coding and am of no help other than saying "hey this isn't working."

Anyways, these looks great. Keep up the awesome work.

I would love to see what other people can make!

Little teaser of the next update
  • New front-end system with horizontal or vertical layout modes (default file viewer is still an option).
  • New options including starting the frontend on the last game played (applies on reset & start-up), and choosing default boot behaviour so you can bypass the pop-up launch menu.
  • Many other UI improvements.
Coming to the Original and Definitive Edition!
Releasing within the next few days - Stay tuned

Yeah, for almost a decade we’ve been using a rudimentary file manager to launch games when it would only take a few hours (slight understatement…) to put together a front end:rofl:. Glad you like it!

I'll check that out and see what I can get working on my end, thank you for bringing it to my attention.

i wonder, is there a theme maker for the ez flash or do you have to edit the files manually. also great work.

v5.0 is here!

This big update introduces two brand new filesystem interfaces to replace the old thumbnail view, fully carried across to both the Recents game list and the NOR screen for a more consistent experience throughout.

UI sound effects have also been added, giving navigation and actions more feedback and polish.

In the Settings 2/Select menu, there is now a new Remember option, which lets the filesystem start on the last played game after reset or start-up, as well as a new Boot Mode option that allows you to choose the default ROM launch behaviour.

For clarity, HardReset has been renamed to Full Boot, which starts ROMs with the GBA BIOS intro.

Alongside these additions, v5.0 also brings general UI improvements and bug fixes, the filesystem now remembers your position when moving between menus, and themes have been refreshed with updated bespoke splash screens.

Oh nice!
I just downloaded it for my EZ Flash.
Question: So, for themes, must be released for THAT version or i can still using a theme for a previous version? If i made a theme for a specific version, i had to edit it to works with any future release?

So long as your theme has the theme loader I implemented in version 3.0 then it will switch between versions no problem, as they are all built on the same official kernel/firmware. I don't foresee that there will be an official update to the EZ-Flash Omegas, since it has been over half a decade since the last update. So we're safe on that front.

However, the new features are hard baked into the kernel, and each 'theme' is really a different kernel entirely. So your theme won't automatically get anything new.

But don't worry!
You only need to update the source folder with the new update's files, then you can rebuild your personal theme and it will get all the new features. I update the resource folder with the latest files in every release.

Basically, yes it will work, but it won't have any of the new features.

I hope that clears things up for you:teach:

Updated to v5 and Yoshi one is cuter now! Thanks a lot for your great work and effort @FrankieT19, teşekkürler :)

Hope you all enjoy it:)

I updated the file just now to make the Yoshi theme's splash screen a little longer for the DE to match the Original Omega's version and the DS Style themes. Should feel less abrupt now, I overlooked it earlier.

v5.1 Small update adding 'Recently Played' to the top bar when on the Recents page in the files view or horizontal view to aid navigation, and better indicate what page the user is on.
