After I updated to 21.2 Tesla Menu was crashing. I found this individual had updated it. Works perfectly now.

https://github.com/ppkantorski/Ultrahand-Overlay is the new Tesla Menu, more futures and gets updated all the time :)

Also use these with it:

Can recommend these overlays:

Hello there, I was about to come to say: «migrate to Ultrahand, tesla and tesla overlay has been deprecated some time ago»

I second third this! Ever since I saw that impeeza mentioned it, I've switched to it and never looked back. Tesla menu was great but Ultrahand is the more modern, up-to-date replacement/upgrade.

FW 22.0.0 | AMS 1.11.0

Is there a topic similar to this one?
Nintendo introduced the change in application and applet lifecycle management with firmware 22.0.0.
This change has directly impacted the homebrew ecosystem, causing incompatibilities due to the fact that many applications do not terminate processes correctly via the intended IPC commands.
In particular, tools like hbmenu and software compiled with libnx tend to avoid clean closing to keep the same process running.
To temporarily work around the issue, patches have been included to the am system module that restore the previous behavior, thus allowing you to continue using homebrew without immediate changes.
However, the developers emphasize that a definitive solution will require a deeper review of how homebrew applications are launched and terminated.

I would argue Tesla Menu is still useful if you just want a basic menu, or if you're gonna give the console to someone that doesn't wants any complications in general (better it's as simple as possible). I wouldn't discard it, it's still useful depending on your use case.

What is the way homebrew now had to handle the exit?

Homebrew applications now need to properly terminate through the official AM IPC lifecycle instead of avoiding exit.
This means performing full cleanup, closing services, and letting the process exit normally, rather than keeping the process alive or skipping termination as hbmenu/libnx apps used to do.
